What are all your thoughts on Cedric?. His brothers would be Arthur, Lorcan and John.

Other suggestions welcome.

Bleh, dislike. Makes me think of Cedric Diggory in HP who came across as a bit of a swaggery dick (forgivesble for a 15yr old) and then gets killed, so not the best vibe really.

With your current son’s names...
Frederick
Herbert
Franklin
Edmund
Sebastian

DoraJar · 22/10/2018 04:25

I like Edmund (Ned) as well!

Sungura · 22/10/2018 05:19

How about Emrick? 4

CountFosco · 22/10/2018 05:28

I like Edmund (Ned) as well!

Well lets hope he never meets anyone Scottish, where a Ned is a criminal Chav. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Cedric on the other hand is a perfectly acceptable name. There's the obvious HP connection, so make sure you have read The Cursed Child and are happy with how the character is portrayed there if you care about that connection. But if you like it go for it. Goes well with your other names.

FogCutter · 22/10/2018 06:36

Don't like Cedric at all, sorry.

There are some old fashioned names that should never be revived and this is one of them IMHO.

Heavystream · 22/10/2018 08:37

I like Emrick actually, that’s quite nice

I actually don't think Cedric goes at all with the other DC names. Those names have a nice solidity and old-ness about them. Cedric was invented by Walter Scott in the Victorian age. It's very associated with Little Lord Fauntleroy as well, which I wouldn't particularly wish on a child.

Cbeebiesrehab · 22/10/2018 14:05

Reminds me of Cedric Diggory. Not to my taste but certainly not the worst name I’ve seen suggested by a long way!
Some overreactions to it on here IMO, Cedric is a perfectly reasonable name, it’s not like you’re suggesting Warthog or something.

starkid · 22/10/2018 17:08

I quite like Cedric, goes well with your other kids names and I like the nickname Ced

Heavystream · 22/10/2018 18:39

I think we will go with Cedric and I agree with CBeebies there are definitely some overreactions. Thanks everyone for your input

I love your other sons names, especially Arthur! But I hate Cedric sorry 😐

DuckofDoom · 22/10/2018 22:34

I struggle with pronouncing it. Never know whether it’s said-ric or seed-ric. I’d use the former but I’ve heard it said the other way too.

I also think of Cedric Diggory, or Tim Curry in Home Alone 2

daffodilbrain · 22/10/2018 22:47

Awful just awful

Heavystream · 22/10/2018 22:57

Any other suggestions
