Pluto

Pluto was on my shortlist for DS1 but I didn't use it because of bad reactions (expected!), but I really do still like it. Is there anyone else who likes this name or even thinks it's usable?

And if not... does anyone else have any other suggestions for mystical kind of names (for either gender)? Outer space, constellations, etc...
I also liked Nova and Luna for girls, and I kind of liked Aries for a boy.

No not a good name for a baby.

Like a pp, I'd suggest Orian. It sounds similar to Ryan, so a proper name... But a little bit different with the 'oh' sound at the beginning.

LuckyDiamond · 20/10/2018 07:23

I prefer Goofy.

bubbles092 · 20/10/2018 07:26

Sounds like a dogs name

MrsA2015 · 20/10/2018 07:28

How about another language?

Here’s a couple I like in Arabic
Girl:
Najma (star)
Shams (sun)
Qamar (moon)

PleaseDo999 · 20/10/2018 07:28

Terrible! Please don't do it...

LAlady · 20/10/2018 07:32

I'd feel very sorry for a child with that name.

Alfie19 · 20/10/2018 07:35

Pluto is absolutely ridiculous, are you for real? If you are you are a cruel and selfish person. But I think more likely just a wind up.

NorthernRunner · 20/10/2018 07:35

I do see the appeal of the name though...why not use as a middle name?

NotUmbongoUnchained · 20/10/2018 07:38

I have a dog name and I’ve managed ok!

funmummy48 · 20/10/2018 07:39

It's a cartoon dog. Please don't do this to your child.😕

TheCag · 20/10/2018 07:42

I’m sorry op, I immediately thought cartoon dog too.
I do know a boy with middle name Jupiter which I love, maybe it’s more middle name teritory?

AtticaRose · 20/10/2018 08:35

Dog, planet or Hades - not great.

Some names that feature in ancient stories of the underworld that are a bit less well-known (at least, not so obviously underworld themed).

Alcestis
Eurydice
Dido
Persephone
Proserpina
Sybil

M
Orpheus
Hermes/Mercury
Hercules

Orion
Leo
Kiran

Aurora
Lucy
Helia
Stella

Pluto would be cruel.

I love Vega as a name, and Charis
Seren is Welsh for star
Stella is also lovely

Marcipex · 20/10/2018 09:49

Aloysius and Lynx are just as bad. And Castor? C'mon people.

Usable names with space connections
James
Leonard
Luke
Patrick
Scott

NotANotMan · 20/10/2018 12:31

SO bad! Sorry

Kokeshi123 · 20/10/2018 12:49

No. No. No.

17caterpillars1mouse · 21/10/2018 08:52

I'm not a fan but my 2 year old loves Pluto. She carries her stuffed Pluto around with her everywhere. I imagine it would be a very popular name choice among the preschool crowd

Starlive23 · 21/10/2018 09:00

I'm not sure if you have ever looked into the names of some moons? There are hundreds and all have quite interesting names of that's the sort of thing you like. Some are named from Greek mythology and some from Shakespearian characters.

daisypond · 21/10/2018 10:28

God the underworld, a demoted planet and Disney dog.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 21/10/2018 10:31

Just no! Don’t set your child up for a life of ridicule.
