I prefer Darcy as a girls names to be honest.
Ryder would be my favourite on your boys list, at a push. (Not keen on any of the others)
Etta is the only girls name I like on your list

DramaAlpaca · 18/10/2018 21:31

Lupin? Tokyo? Texas? Tug?

Don't be daft Grin

RavenWings · 18/10/2018 21:31

Boys names
Amos - think this is objectively nice but I don't like it myself
Darcy - prefer it on a girl
Errol - like the owl in HP. No.
Huxley - vomiting noise
Lupin - ah, definitely a Harry Potter fan (and no)
Ryder - no
Tokyo - NO

Girls names
Aza - actually like this
Effie - nice. Insubstantial though so no
Etta - love it
Hettie - meh
Hester - like this too
Lux - like it but think I'd only use as a middle name
Pixie - good god no. Name the adult, not the toddler or bunny rabbit.
Texas - lol
Tug - wut
Tyne - oh dear
Zelda - like this

Skylucy · 18/10/2018 21:32

Love love love Effie.

"Tug" has given me the giggles. Is it a typo?!

Pixilicious · 18/10/2018 21:35

All of them are awful

umpteennamechanges · 18/10/2018 21:35

Pleeeeeease not Tug.

Tug means having a wank where I'm from Grin

brumblle · 18/10/2018 21:37

Tug was definitely a typo!!!! It was actually supposed to say Teagan (so don't know how that happened) 😂

OP posts:
Petalflowers · 18/10/2018 21:39

Because Darcy Bussell, Darcy was always considered a boys name.

Boys list - don’t like Lupin, Ryder or Tuxedo. Other names good,

Not so,keen on girls names,

NorthernRunner · 18/10/2018 21:40

Tokyo- where I went on my honeymoon
Tyne- name of a river situated in the best city on earth 🌏😊
Tug- I mean that’s a flat out no.

I think you have a very mixed bag of names, some of which are quite out there.
The only two I like are Etta and Hattie.

Petalflowers · 18/10/2018 21:40

Teagen is nice.

Petalflowers · 18/10/2018 21:40

(Or Tug as a nn!)

NorthernRunner · 18/10/2018 21:42

Oh I see Teagan not Tug
Can’t say I like teagan or tug 😆

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/10/2018 21:47

Amos. No
Darcy. Gorgeous for a girl.
Very effeminate for a boy
Errol. No
Huxley. Adorable for a puppy
Lupin.No
Ryder. Love this. Glad there's one I can be positive about.
Tokyo. Its okay but Yoyd have to have a Japanese connection to suit it,bI think.

Aza. Sounds like a teenage boys nick name.
Effie. Awful
Hester. Like the already awful Esther gone hideously wrong.
Lux No
Pixie. Okay up to the age of 10.
Texas. No.
Tug boat
Tyne. No
Zelda. Pet Semetary.

With some of these names. If you weren't pregnant. I'd be asking "If you were pissed". Grin. Lighthearted, obvs

RedDwarves · 18/10/2018 21:49

What on Earth is "Tug"?

Jesus.

RedDwarves · 18/10/2018 21:50

Oh, I've seen it's a typo now. Grin

I like Amos and Zelda. Prefer Hattie to Hettie.

Lupin, Tokyo, Pixie, Texas and Tyne are frankly completely unusable.

lljkk · 18/10/2018 21:52

Tegan, Tyne, Hester are fine. Tiggy for short?
OP has very diverse tastes.
I can't warm to your boy choices, sorry, but the person makes the name, imho, anyway.

JosellaPlayton · 18/10/2018 21:53

Boys names
Amos - ok
Darcy - Bussell, a girl’s name
Errol - Flynn, belongs in the 1930s
Huxley - surname of the brave new world author, awful
Lupin - Harry Potter/a flower, terrible as a first name
Ryder - paw patrol, don’t do it
Tokyo - ridiculous

Girls names
Aza - ok, sounds like a made-up version of the very popular Ava
Effie - quite like this
Etta - nice
Hettie - bit nickname-y but ok
Hester - really like this
Lux - industry slang for luxury, don’t like it
Pixie - Geldof, and it’s a silly name
Texas - just no, if you like states how about Georgia?
Teagan - very American, dislike it immensely

Tyne - Newcastle, awful as a name
Zelda - the video game, not the worst on your list

laadedaa · 18/10/2018 21:55

Boys names
Amos- ok
Darcy- girls name
Errol- ok
Huxley- ok
Lupin- ridiculous
Ryder- ok
Tokyo- ridiculous

Girls names
Aza- not sure, maybe no
Effie- ok
Etta- ok
Hettie- ok
Hester- boys' name
Lux- ridiculous
Pixie- ok
Texas-ok
Tug- beyond ridiculous
Tyne- ridiculous
Zelda- not sure if this is ok or ridiculous

NerrSnerr · 18/10/2018 21:56

The first thing I thought about was Ryder and his team of pups will come and save the day.

Teaandbiscuits35 · 18/10/2018 21:59

Hettie is my hoovers name, just spelt differently. I like the name Effie. Really don’t like the rest though. Sorry. All a bit too out there for me I’m afraid.

Teaandbiscuits35 · 18/10/2018 22:01

@NerrSnerr snap! I’ll never be able to hear the name Ryder without thinking of those pups again 🤣

pigeondujour · 18/10/2018 22:02

Tug is nicer than Teagan.

DuckofDoom · 18/10/2018 23:19

Amos- Not keen. Reminds me of the dopey husband in Chicago (not even sure that’s his name exactly but it’s similar)
Darcy- I had no idea this was originally a male name. It still seems very feminine to me.
Errol- I’m quite fond of this. Love the nickname Roly (but maybe not great if he’s a bit chubby- Roly Poly)
Huxley- Not a fan of surnames as first names
Lupin- Big HP fan so actually think this is kind of cool (not sure if you’re going for the reference but if you are, Remus is nicer I think)
Ryder- Not a fan. Very American (fine if you’re actually American)
Tokyo- Not a big fan of cities as names. You’ll always have someone asking if he was conceived there.

Aza- Not heard this before but quite like it. Similar vein to Ava/ Eva etc but a little unusual
Effie- Love
Etta- Love
Hettie- Love
Hester- Not a fan. Reminds me of Uncle Fester
Lux- No
Pixie- Cute as a nickname but not a full name
Texas- Same thing as Tokyo
Taegan- Not my taste. Very American. Lots of different spellings. Not a bad name though
Tyne- Like Newcastle?
Zelda- Great name. Strong. Reminds me of Zelda Fitzgerald

Sophronia · 18/10/2018 23:26

I like Amos, Errol, Etta and Hester

Ellamee · 18/10/2018 23:28

Boys names
Amos - little Harry Potter-y, but ok
Darcy - a girl’s name to me. Would never give it to a boy. I know five female Darcey/Darcie/Darcys, all under 6, so it’s a popular girl’s name in that age group & could lead to teasing.
Errol - the pathetic Weasley owl in Harry Potter who can’t stop flying into windows. Don’t do it.
Huxley - ok
Lupin - way too Harry Potter-y. I would assume that’s the character you’d named your son after. Remus is slightly better imo.
Ryder - too American, would be a naughty boy name in Britain in my opinion.
Tokyo - very strange name for a British kid (especially if your child will be white). It’s an Asian city, not an English name.

Best (well, least awful) = Amos and Huxley

Girls names
Aza - never heard of it, don’t like it. Sounds made up, and sounds like razor.
Effie - sweet nickname. Give her a longer name though for when she’s a professional adult. Elizabeth is lovely.
Etta - ok (prefer it short for Henrietta)
Hettie - ok, but should be short for Hester/Henrietta/Harriet
Hester - ok
Lux - awful
Pixie - too Geldof, awful
Texas - just why? Absolutely awful. Gun toting and evangelical associations.
Tug - hate Tug but love Teagan!
Tyne - again, why on earth would you want to name your child after the river Tyne? What is your reasoning?
Zelda - lovely

Favourites: Zelda, Hester, Hettie/Etta short for Henrietta, Effie short for Elizabeth
