So my DD is due any day now and my name list gets amended weekly! So far I have shortlisted (in order)

Mila (mee-lah)
Alyssa
Elissia
Keira
Olivia (been on my list for years just the popularity puts me off)

I’m over (ish) how others will pronounce them and how anyone else will spell them Grin I have the same issues with my own name and it’s not scarred me for life or sent me insane yet Wink

Alyssa
Keira
Olivia
Elissia
Mila (mee-lah)

My preference order of your names. If Alicia was on there too, that would be top.

Enjoy Grin

Alyssa. Gorgeous.

Alyssa

Mila

Glumglowworm · 13/10/2018 19:53

Mila (pronounced as you said, mee-la)

Itchytights · 13/10/2018 20:07

I like Mila but not your way as I know a Mila pronounced Mi-eye-la.
Meela sounds so wrong.

It's a gorgeous name

Hidillyho · 13/10/2018 20:31

Mila! It was on my short list

ReginaPhalange89 · 13/10/2018 21:00

Mila = Mila Kunis the actress and she pronounces it Meela too so I wouldn't let others put you off , it's not like you made it up lol

Wherearemycarkeys · 14/10/2018 07:17

Mila (mee-lah) - by far my favourite! Only downside is that it's a bit popular
Alyssa - second favourite, but prefer Alessia (very popular in Italy)
Elissia - for some reason I really don't like this (which is odd given my last suggestion). I think it looks made up.
Keira - dull and a bit chavvy in my area
Olivia - everyone in the world is called Olivia these days.

Wherearemycarkeys · 14/10/2018 07:19

Also... Do people really pronounce 'Mila' as 'Mill-a?' Confused Surely not! That's just... Wrong. It's very clearly 'Mee-la'. 'Mill-a' would be spelt 'Milla'.

SongsFromTheWar · 14/10/2018 07:24

Definitely Keira.

We are Scottish so chose the feminine version of Keir. This is also the most common spelling and haven't really had any issues with the spelling. She is the only one in her school that we've come across and was the only one in her nursery. The meaning of the name is dark and she was born with inch long black hair so it seemed to fit. She is now a gorgeous, confident 5 year old. Love the name even more now than the day we chose it!

As pp suggested I prefer Alicia. From your list Olivia or Keira.

Don't be put off be popularity. Ds has a name in the top 20 and we only know one other, and he is in a different year at school

Dd has a name that hovers around the top 100 mark . We know 4..
