Sweet and vintage or musty and old?

I like it. I've never met one but I think there was a corrie character years back called Alma so it's not like it's unheard of. Fits in with the current styles of names around

Makes me think of "alma mater"

Alma was my great grandmother’s name, and my gran and mum’s middle name. I never see it used so I think it’s lovely.

I think it's awful, sorry. It's marginally better than Alba though.

I really like Alma. It's a great name - a million times nicer than Ivy, Mabel, etc. I like Irene and Vera too.

My first thought was Alma Pudden too! Not a namesake I’d want for my child!

I seem to remember Enid Blyton using it as the name of a fat dumpy girl and being rude about the name itself, saying it was a fat dumpy girl's name. So I get the impression that even in the 50s it was not considered terribly stylish...

My drama teacher was an Alma. Nice lady, deserved a nicer name.

I love it. Just met a baby alma and it made me immediately put it on my names list.

Although I love Enid too! Sounds very cool and hip to my ears, not over used but easy to spell and has a nice strong sound.
