I posted another thread yesterday however hasn't had a lot of response so reposting. I'm pregnant with a little girl and love the name Ada but wanted a longer version my other names are:

Dahlia
Delilah
Camille
Rosaline
Helana
Lucile
Cecilia
Heidi
Nancy
Frances
Ophelia
Imogen

With middle name of either Susan, Josephine or Maureen

Helena (or did you mean Helana in which case no) and Cecilia are my favourites of those. Lucille usually has a double L at the end.

IggyAce · 06/10/2018 17:58

From the list I like
Imogen
Heidi
Delilah
And prefer Josephine from your potential middle name list.

StripyDeckchair · 06/10/2018 17:59

I like Frances but I'm not sure any of your middle names work with it.

Ada Josephine works perfectly. Both have the same feel to me.

Cecilia Frances also has a nice flow.

bridgetreilly · 06/10/2018 18:00

I love Ada and if that's the name you love, you should choose it. There's no need for her to have a longer name. Ada Josephine would be a lovely name.

Of the other list, in order I like:
Nancy
Imogen
Helena
Cecilia
Heidi
Frances
Lucille
Ophelia
Dahlia
Delilah
Camille
Rosaline

But I don't like any as much as Ada.

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 06/10/2018 18:03

I love Camille and Imogen.

TheLovelyOtherDinosaur · 06/10/2018 18:04

Ada-lovely
Dahlia- no, I just think of the black dahlia murder
Delilah- ok
Camille-lovely
Rosaline- don’t like, prefer Rosa or Rosalind
Helena- ok name but not my cup of tea
Lucille- prefer just Lucy
Nancy- ok
Cecelia- beautiful, love Cece as a nn
Heidi- not keen
Frances- don’t like
Ophelia- ‘a feel of ya....insert body part’
Imogen- lovely

I came to suggest Dahna which means lady in Italian

BertrandRussell · 06/10/2018 18:06

"I came to suggest Dahna which means lady in Italian"
No it doesn't. Do you mean Donna

CorianderSnell · 06/10/2018 18:10

I like Dahlia - nice, unusual flower name

I like Lucille and Camille written down but find they sound wrong when I say out loud (I think they need a bit of a French accent)

Ophelia sounds like ‘I’ll feel ya’ to me. I prefer Cecelia, although also a bit of a mouthful. (I like Aurelia and Cordelia though!)

I like Rosaline, esp. if shortened to Rosa, which I love. I’m assuming a ‘leen’ sound at the end rather than ‘line’. ?

Delilah I’m not keen on - Tom Jones and Samson

Nancy I’m on the fence

Frances and Heidi are two names I’ve never liked, I find them both a bit clunky

RavenWings · 06/10/2018 18:14

Ada is ok. It's too similar to Eva etc names though and would blend into the crowd. I love Adalind and would probably use it, nning Ada.

Dahlia - ok. As others said though I do think of the black Dahlia.

Delilah - no.

Camille - ok

Rosaline - not keen. I think Rosalind, Rosanna or Rosalie are gorgeous though.

Helana - never seen this one before, only ever seen Helena. It's ok. Not amazing.

Lucile - am I right in thinking Lucille is the spelling? I like it.

Cecilia - nah

Heidi - pretty

Nancy - no

Frances - no, dated. I like Francesca though.

Ophelia - no way

Imogen - nice

I think I'd use Heidi or Lucille. I'd be keener on my adapted ones (of course Grin ) and from those I'd use Adalind, Francesca or Rosalie.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 06/10/2018 18:17

Camille, Heidi and Imogen.

eggofmantumbi · 06/10/2018 18:20

My daughter is Ada and we get lots of compliments about her name. It was my nanna's name so I'm a little biased (although she never used it!)

birthdayparty · 06/10/2018 18:20

I like Delilah, Frances and Imogen but none of the rest, sorry!

AfterSchoolWorry · 06/10/2018 18:22

Dahlia : ok
Delilah: I can't disassociate it from the biblical Delilah/Tom Jones song
Camille: ok
Rosaline: Rosealeen ? I like that.
Helana: awful
Lucile: ugly
Cecilia : middle aged
Heidi : lovely, the best.
Nancy: don't like the sound
Frances: beautiful
Ophelia: also beautiful
Imogen: an ugly sound

Edinburgh2012 · 06/10/2018 18:23

Okay Ophelia is definitely out!
As for spellings we are between Helana/Helena but think we prefer Helana.
We would spell Lucile with one L as my husbands half French and happens to be his mums middle name (not why we are considering) and hers is spelt with one L but pronounced the same.
Pronunciation of Rosaline Ros-a-leen.

finallychangedmyusername · 06/10/2018 18:24

From your list I realky like (in no particular order) Imogen, Camille, Heidi, Rosaline, Lucille and Nancy.

Imogen Susan
Camille Josephine
Heidi Josephine (my favourite) Smile
Rosaline Susan
Lucille Josephine
Nancy Josephine

bridgetreilly · 06/10/2018 18:29

Helana would be at the very bottom of my list. She'll constantly be correcting people spelling it Helena. Because Helena is how it is spelled.

DramaAlpaca · 06/10/2018 18:32

If you love Ada go with that. Ada Josephine is perfect.

daisypond · 06/10/2018 18:40

Dahlia - OK
Delilah - awful
Camille - yes, but how will it be pronounced? French way or English?
Rosaline - yes
Helana - not spelled like this. Helena - yes.
Lucile - Ok but Lucille is better
Cecilia - yes
Heidi - no
Nancy - ok, but I'm personally not keen
Frances - yes
Ophelia - no
Imogen - I'm not keen

wildewillow · 06/10/2018 18:42

Dahlia - reminds me of the 'Black Dahlia' so no.
Delilah - YES! my favorite name EVER (also name of my dog so I can't use it)
Camille - lovely
Rosaline - also very lovely! Love a bit of Shakespeare.
Helana - prefer Helena or Helaina spelling
Lucille - not keen, very 50's housewife.
Cecelia - Love this! Nn I's use Cece
Heidi - love it but v popular at the mo if that bothers you
Nancy - my grandmas name so I love Nancy
Frances - I like but not nn frankie
Ophelia - No but great for a middle name
Imogen - a bit boring

Josephine as a middle name is great. Please don't lump a child with Maureen, they will be teased endlessly.

HenryInTheTunnel · 06/10/2018 18:45

Dahlia- reminds me of The Black Dahlia
Delilah - she'll have the song sung at her everywhere she goes. Actually both songs...
Camille - nice
Rosaline - nice
Helana - Helena is a more traditional spelling
Lucile - ok
Cecilia - another song one
Heidi - nice
Nancy- nice
Frances- nice
Ophelia - ok
Imogen - wanted this one myself

Sophronia · 06/10/2018 18:53

Helena is one of my favourite names, but I don’t like Helana at all.

Cecilia Josephine or Helena Susan would be nice.

Sophronia · 06/10/2018 19:13

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 06/10/2018 20:09

Slate
Dahlia
Delilah
Nancy
Lucille (Although I love Lucy)
Camille
Imogen
Ophelia. Who decided this was a good name. I can say about some names. Okay well ita not my thing but I can see why others would. However i don't the hype
over this one.

Rate
Heidi
Frances
Rosalie

Rate Helena
Slate Helana. That seems really haRd to say. Like it doesn't roll off the tongue. It's really strange how one tiny sound can make all the difference.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 06/10/2018 20:10

Also Neither Rte nor Slate Cecelia

Katinkak8 · 06/10/2018 20:14

I think Ada is the nicest of your names and I think that Ada Josephine is absolutely beautiful!
