Eleanor - dame as SIL and sibling is Elizabeth

Eleanor is a front runner for me for DD’s name. I would use the pet name Nora and/or Noreen (we are Irish). Two possible complications I wanted to get opinions on -

  1. SIL is Eilionoir (Irish spelling)
  2. My DD1 is Elizabeth but we call her Lily, though some people sometimes call her Ellie. Would this be a problem for an Eleanor?

Nah, I think it's fine. If you called DD lily and you'll call number 2 Nora I don't think it will be confusing. Don't like Noreen though!

I think it'll fine. It's a good strong name.

I met someone whose daughters were Lizzie and Ellie. I presumed the second was Eleanor!

Elena is nice. (Not Nora or Noreen though!)

Gretchen Rubin (Happiness Project author) has daughters Eliza and Eleanor, and a sister Elizabeth.

I think it’s nice for sisters to share a commonality in their full names but have quite distinct nicknames.

It is fine, the only problem (and it's a minor one) is that you will get post for both addressed with the same initial.

Sorry, I think it's a bit strange, you can't really set their nicknames for them and although Nora is a lovely name, what happens if they both get older and their different friends call them both Ellie? Might just be my opinion but I feel like it could be a bit frustrating!

I know an Eleanor and Elizabeth who are sisters, known as Ellie and Lizzie. As long as you don't use Ellie and Nellie I imagine no one would bat an eyelid.

I think Lily and Nora sound lovely together!

I don't think Eleanor and Elizabeth are too similar
Unless you called them both Ellie which you're not

I think it's fine for different generations, although they might be known as big Ellie and little Ellie.
