Frannie short for Francesca?

Opinions on Frannie short for Francesca please.

DH and I both love Francesca and I'd happily call future DD just by Francesca but DH wants a nickname handy too. He offered up Frankie but I'm not keen. I offered Cheska but he wasn't keen. Our middle ground is Frannie but we are wondering if it sounds strange or too close to fanny?

@RedDwarves ITA, I think Francesca is simply a name with ugly sounding shortenings.

Franny is really not a nice sound. I don't get this current obsession for planning children's nicknames. It's like trying to force a orgasm. Some things are just meant to happen by themselves.

I get that in the future they'll choose their nn themselves (no issues with that, my sister and a few friends have actually completely changed their names by deed poll so not even surprised if they grow and do that either). But names that are long do get shortened and we currently have a DS with a long name that could have various NN, we are fine with all shortenings bar one for him. One particularly nn he is pretty much solely known by really as that's what we have mainly called him from day he was born.

(FYI, I can force orgasms - off topic though)

So yeah we get that's what is likely to happen with Francesca as a name too.

Might go with Victoria though as we do love that name
