Does anyone like the name Roger?

I love the name but I'm struggling to picture a baby called it - and I'm worried that it's dated.

I'm pleased I posted! Hadn't heard of the sexual connotations - I don't really like Robert but do like Rupert. Thanks all

Tartyflette wasn't the bull in Withnail and I called Roger? I didn't realise it was a universal bull name GrinGrin It's so educational on MN!

I actually love the idea of a baby Roger.

itssquidstella · 26/09/2018 19:10

I love it, I know a teenage Roger and it suits him.

n0ne · 26/09/2018 19:20

I like it!

PinkBuffalo · 26/09/2018 19:29

I know a lovely bloke called Roger. He is not elderly so the name is still about Smile I like the name because the guy I know is so nice!

Camparisafari · 26/09/2018 19:38

Roger is on my DH’s boys name list, it is the only one I would contemplate actually using as other suggestions are things like Keith and Geoffrey. Keith!

I don’t mind it, makes me think of Roger Federer and Roger Moore.

He would be the only Roger in his class, yet it is a well known name, strong, distinctive. Perhaps these ‘dated’ kinds of names are coming back.

SelinaMyers · 26/09/2018 19:42

I thought of Rodger Sterling.

AlliKaneErikson · 26/09/2018 22:31

Both DH and I have an uncle (not the same one!!) Roger in his 70s so I identify it with that kind of age group. Not a favourite of mine, I have to say.

MyKingdomForBrie · 26/09/2018 22:33

I love it, have a cousin Roger who is four and he is completely adorable and such a character, it really suits him.

cheese isn't that 'WODERWICK!'

moredoll · 27/09/2018 02:40

It is dated. I prefer Rory.

Rabbit- first thought that came to me

OhFlipMama · 27/09/2018 07:24

Because I have a clean mind 😉 it makes me think of Rodger the Dodger!

villainousbroodmare · 27/09/2018 07:32

I know a goodlooking and very successful thirtyish Roger who goes by Rog. My other association is the Irish rugby player Ronan O'Gara who's generally known as Rog. So to me it's a name for a handsome young man. I think it's v cute for a kid too.

Aprilshowersnowastorm · 27/09/2018 08:10

My fil is Roger. A complete wet blanket and walkover to boot.
Def a no from me.

balalalala · 27/09/2018 12:40
