DS is 3 weeks old today and we still can't decide on a name. I'm struggling to think of names I love with "Ken" in. Doesn't have to be at the start, can be at the end, middle, anywhere. Can be as normal or unusual as you like. Please inspire me! Thank you x

Hi op,
Just thinking up some names now, but if you're thinking of honouring someone by using the name "Ken", could you not use that as a middle name?
Or does the person have any other names- middle etc, that you could use?
I think Kenneth means handsome- I quite like the name as it stands without adaption anyway as well.

Could you use Ken as a middle name and just pick a name you like for the first name?

strawberrypenguin · 23/09/2018 10:15

Could you use Ken as a middle name?
Does it have to be 'ken' or just sound similar ie Duncan?
What names do you like generally? Do you have a name you would use if it weren't for the 'ken' connection?

AtticaRose · 23/09/2018 10:15

Sorry - that was supposed to say search ken (take out the spaces).

Eleanor90 · 23/09/2018 10:16

Argh so many X posts! Agree with pps though, if you’ve not found a Ken name you like 3 weeks in, pick something you do like and put it in the middle.

moredoll · 23/09/2018 10:17

Lorcan?

littlemisssunshine81 · 23/09/2018 11:12

What about Duncan? Not ‘Ken’ but has the right sound. Good strong Scottish name!

LydiaLunch7 · 23/09/2018 15:44

This site is good for advanced searches based on certain letters:

Ken? After someone? Honestly I would scrap that. Pick a name you love and have Ken as a middle name.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 23/09/2018 18:01

Mackenzie is by far the nicest, could if be a middle name ?

Bachstelze · 23/09/2018 18:55

Since you're ok with unusual, there are plenty of Japanese names starting with "ken", usually written with the character 健 meaning "health" or "strength". They include

Kenichi (pronounced "ken-ichi", not "ke-ni-chi"), 健一 (一 means "one" or "first")
Kenji or Kento, 健人 (人 means "person")
Kenkichi, 健吉 (吉 means "good luck" or "happiness"), probably quite dated
Kenta, 健多 (多 means "many") or 健太 (太 means "large", it is a common suffix in boys' names and also used in words such as 太陽 (the Sun), 太平洋 (the Pacific ocean)... or 太い (thick, fat))
Kenchi, 健知 (知 means "knowledge" or "wisdom")
Kenshin, can be written in many ways such as with 心 (heart), 信 (trust, confidence), 真 (truth), or 新 (new)
