Surely it can't be on a par with Balonz?!

Showing your vintage there Kiltpitlees - but I like it!

Please don't name your DD Kestrel 3. There are so many lovely names in the world, why choose a word that will mean she will be always explain your choice.
It's just my view, but the word Kestrel has a masculine vibe about it as well; I'd feel more comfortable with calling a boy Kestrel, than a girl.

PassportBridgetPants · 22/09/2018 23:12

I love it. But I think older generations wouldn't be able to help themselves saying 'C'mon Kes!'

GinIsIn · 22/09/2018 23:35

I think I prefer Balonz....

MeltingSnowflake · 22/09/2018 23:37

I like it for a racehorse, maybe, but not a human. Sorry! Balonz it is.

PatriciaHolm · 22/09/2018 23:38

...for a knave.

We watched a show a few years ago where various families went on different types of holidays and the dad of the super posh boho family was called Kestrel. There was a bit where he was in a v expensive restaurant in Dubai and stuck his fork in his champagne glass and swooshed it round and his wife went, "Kez.....", and he replied, "what? You know I hate the bubbles".

Consequently "a bit Kestrel" is now longhand for "wanky AF" in this house.

Hedgehogblues · 23/09/2018 00:57

I love it

Sweetheart1313 · 23/09/2018 01:06

Reminds me of Craig David from Bo Selecta

madeoficecream · 23/09/2018 01:16

I wouldnt because of the cheap nasty lager!
It is a beautiful name but sadly id always think of the cans i see homeless people drinking....

madeoficecream · 23/09/2018 01:19

mind you I went with a name everyone on here told me was a washing powder for my daughter!! So I cant talk!

NarcolepticOuchMouse · 23/09/2018 01:24

As in the bird?

ZebraKid71 · 23/09/2018 20:30

My family and close friends all call me kestrel. It evolved as my nn is Kez.
I like it... But I don't think I'd be such a fan if it was official name and I had to use it at work!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 24/09/2018 13:37

Wren is pretty, of Keziah (Kizzy).

Gorgeous name, I love it, though I've only known one Kestrel who was a boy.

Prettysureitsnotok · 24/09/2018 13:55

Depending on where you are, it might be slang for ketamine..

GraceMarks · 24/09/2018 16:39

If you want a child named after the out-and-out most depressing, sad film ever made, go for it. It's nicer than Watership Down, anyway...
