Hello All!

I'm curious what others think about the name Keri for a baby girl.

I'd like to know what you all think of the name itself and with the middle name Alexandra. My surname is Johnson btw.

Thanks!

Not keen, it feels a bit dated. Alexandra is lovely though.

DramaAlpaca · 19/09/2018 21:49

I think it's pretty & I like that spelling.

Wendigowoman · 19/09/2018 21:50

Keri Alexandra? So one half is common and the other is nice? No. Alexandra on its own.

ariaa · 19/09/2018 21:56

Not keen sorry, think Kerry in general is a dated name with any spelling!

Glumglowworm · 19/09/2018 22:51

Kerry with any spelling is very 80s imo

And I’m not a fan of spelling it Keri at all. It feels like a mashup of Kerry and Ceri (Ceri is the welsh spelling)

Shadow1234 · 19/09/2018 23:02

Not too keen either tbh.

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 19/09/2018 23:19

I think it's pretty.

BackforGood · 19/09/2018 23:24

It's quite a nice name, IMO, and not particularly 'in fashion' at the moment, which is a good thing in my book, not to be one of many wherever you go.
I would spell it Kerry though, or she would be forever having to correct people.

SabineUndine · 19/09/2018 23:51

I used to know a Kerie. It was short for Kerima.

hobblesma · 20/09/2018 00:11

I like it

annainboots · 20/09/2018 01:07

In my opinion it's quite dated, and a bit unsubstantial. What about Carrie? Similar but a much prettier and more established name imo. Carrie Alexandra sounds lovely. Could also use Carrie as a shortening for Caroline Alexandra which sounds beautiful also.

PinkAvocado · 20/09/2018 01:19

Keri is a known variant and spelled like this, looks less like a surname. I quite like it and think it goes well with Alexandra.

However, Wiki just gave me this:
Keri (קרי‬) is a Hebrew term which literally means "happenstance", "frivolity" or "contrariness" and has come to mean "seminal emission". The term is generally used in Jewish law to refer specifically to the regulations and rituals concerning the emission of semen, whether by nocturnal emission, or by sexual activity.

Thanks to everyone that gave their opinion to help me out! I'm glad some of you liked it. It was a name I happened to hear today and I gave it a quick thought but the meaning of the name, as given by PinkAvocado makes it a no unfortunately Shock. I'll keep thinking and having you great folks help! Thanks again everyone!

Awful

PinkAvocado · 20/09/2018 01:43

PregnantMomma, I had to google to find that info and I doubt many non Hebrew speakers would have any idea!

How about:
Cerys (love)
Carys (loved one)
Carrie
Karina

PregnantMomma · 20/09/2018 02:36

PinkAvocado, I like Karina 😉

I don't think what PinkAvocado said is actually the meaning of the name though, it just what the word has come to be used to mean in one language which most people you will meet almost certainly don't speak.

I wouldn't let it put you off. I had a friend at school whose name was Keri and it suited her.

Quangot · 20/09/2018 08:12

How about Corinne, Carys, Chloe?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 20/09/2018 08:30

Oh I like it and It goes beautifully with Alexandra. Yes it's dated but who says that's a bad thing. Do you want her to be 15th Ava/Lily/Isabella/Olivia in the school year group.

mammmamia · 20/09/2018 08:35

It’s quite 80s but I quite like it. I think it should be a nickname for a longer name though. Not sure what.
I love Cerys
Love Alexandra.

bridgetreilly · 20/09/2018 08:57

I prefer it spelled Ceri. But you could also consider Cerys or Charis.

binkyblinky · 20/09/2018 09:11

I don't like Alexandra at all, I love Keri but spelt Ceri, the Welsh way

Flyingpigs247 · 20/09/2018 10:41

I love Keri. It's one of those names I'd love to see make a come back.

17caterpillars1mouse · 20/09/2018 12:43

I quite like Keri - this spelling only though. I have a friend called Keri (she's 28). I think it sounds sweet on a little girl but agea well. Alexandra is also lovely.
