For a boy I like Peter or Robin

And for a girl I love Emily or Annabelle. I like Annabelle most because it's quite versatile, I could shorten it to Anna, Annie, Bella or Belle. Probably Annie!

What do you think of these four names?

I'm not pregnant but I can dream Blush

I love your boy choices. Surprised to see someone said that Peter sounds 70s/80s as the Peters I know were either born between the 1920s-1960s or are little boys of nursery or primary age. It’s a real classic, anyway. I like Robin too.

Annabel(le) is lovely. Emily’s fine but doesn’t do that much for me.

Peter and George are nice. Robin for a little girl. Nothing wrong with either of your girl's name choices either; they strike a real classic feel, even if they're overused...

Sophronia · 19/09/2018 02:58

I love Peter.

I like Robin and Emily

SausageSimon · 19/09/2018 08:21

It's funny because although they are overused, they don't seem to be where I live so I'm wondering if they're more popular down south? Everyone I know seems to be going to modern or trendy names that I really dislike.
For example, George is one of the most popular names but I barely know any others. More likely to find a Vinnie, Alfie or Bailey etc. Very rare to get a 'classic' name round here.

Annabel would be an only one for definite, and tbh even an Emily! I haven't met a baby Emily, more Ava, Evie and Poppy

I like Peter and Emily. Robin is cute on a little boy but a bit effeminate on a grown man. Annabel is beautiful but Annabelle is too frilly.

SausageSimon · 19/09/2018 09:47

I get what you mean about Robin not being quite as good for an adult, as lovely as it is for a child.

Any opinions on Annie for a nickname for Annabel?

I like Annie a lot.

ReginaPhalange89 · 19/09/2018 10:53

Not keen on Peter, it's a bit old fashioned and not in a cute comeback way . Lol. Robin is ok but I associate it more with a girl these days (probably because I know a couple of girl Robyn's )

Emily is gorgeous, I love that and Emma.

Annabelle is really sweet too, but agree it's quite frilly. What about Abigail? Similar sound.

TJsAunt · 19/09/2018 12:04

like Annabelle (although prefer the Annabel spelling)

With those boys' names you'd have to be v happy for them to morph into Pete and Rob as they got older. If not then choose something else - dp's Mum still not reconciled to him calling himself Dave and he's been doing it for over 30 years!!

LeeMiller · 19/09/2018 13:05

Peter is lovely, classic but very underused right now. Robin I find a bit wet.

Emily is really lovely. I love the nn Emmy. Annabelle is frilly and a bit sloaney, Annabel is a better spelling. Annie is nice.

annainboots · 19/09/2018 13:19

Peter is a lovely, underused classic. Not keen on Robin though, feels a bit unsubstantial.

I like both Emily and Annabel (this spelling), I don't think you could really go wrong with either.
George, Peter and Emily would make an awesome sibset - classic and retro!
