Don't know if we are having a girl or boy, kept the sex a surprise, but looks like I may be developing PE and there's a real chance baby might come early. We have a few names we like but can't agree on any!

I love Cassius for a boy and Dahlia for a girl.

DP likes Zac for a boy and Scarlett for a girl.

He's not keen on the names I've picked.

I'm not keen on Scarlett, absolutely cannot stand Zac!

Any suggestions?

I've toyed with Elijah but not sure how strong it is? Or am I wrong?

It's so hard to find a name you LOVE as opposed to LIKE.

I know 2 Dahlias - one pronounced Dar-lia and one Day-lia. How would you pronounce it and would it bother you if someone got it wrong?

I love Delilah- it has a similar feel

Jasmine
Ebony
Marceline (Marcy/mercy)

Love Cassius - the one I know of gets called Cash as a nn

Malachi
Idris
Cillian

Icklepup · 16/09/2018 09:07

Elijah is lovely!

MischaB · 16/09/2018 09:12

Malachi and Idris both on my list @TheHalfBloodPrincess !

It would be Dah-lia exactly how it's spelt. I would just correct someone if they got it wrong. No biggie.

Flowers for the preeclampsia. I was in the same position and had to come up with two sets of names in a hurry. In the end we decided to give ourselves more time and still referred to DC as her ‘tummy name’ for a while after she arrived. If it helps, choosing a name was so much easier after she arrived and we could see what suited her.

MischaB · 16/09/2018 09:20

Thanks @CircleofWillis - it's not definite yet but looking like it could be so I'm preparing... Sad really hard to get my head round.

@MischaB the flower Dahlia is pronounced Day-lia in the UK. It you want to pronounce it Dah-lia insteas then that's obviously your choice, but it's a bit like calling someone Phoebe and then pronouncing it as pho-e-bee because it's "how it's spelt"?

abos · 16/09/2018 09:51

Amos, Ezra, Carson, Carter, Hudson, Eli, Douglas, Josef, Jude, Lockie, Otto, Nixon, Quinn, Tate, Xavier, Zander, Rory

Ava, Cora, Elvie, Georgie, Hattie, Iris, Lennox, Julia, Juno, Marlie, Piper, Pippa

MischaB · 16/09/2018 09:56

@Spooples I've only ever heard it as Dahlia, never Day-lia. I have a very close family member called Phoebe who has had it pronounced 'Phobe' 'Phobee' etc. I don't think it really matters to be honest. That doesn't bother me Smile

I like the name Dahlia but the flower is definitely pronounced ‘Day-lia’ in the U.K. Dah-lia sounds odd and quite harsh to me but that’s probably as I’ve been saying ‘Day-lia’ quite a lot this summer as we’ve been trying (and failing) to grow some! Wink Is that a US pronunciation? It’s a beautiful flower.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

MischaB · 16/09/2018 10:23

Just read that the flower is named after a man caller Andrea Dahl. I'm going to go with the UK pronouncing it wrong and the US pronouncing it right as Dahlia Grin anyway why are we discussing this? DP doesn't like it 🤣
