Being induced tomorrow so need to start making decisions haha! I have some names listed but keeping them a surprise so i cant get any opinions from friends or family!!
Middle name will be kathryn and surname johnson.

I loved elsie for months but completely went off this name

In no order at all my shortlist

Ella - love this name but not sure if it will go well in adulthood?

Myla, mila, mylah - love this name too but dont have a clue what the best way to spell it is

Evie - my middle name is eve so would be quite fitting but again is it a really childish name?

This is my shortlist, any other suggestions would be fab but im not keen on anything too unusual or too common- oh this is a nightmare!

Ella Kathryn Johnson is lovely.
I don't think it's a children's name at all, in fact my gran has a friend called Ella.

1stTimeMumofOne · 11/09/2018 16:37

Hha thank you! I do love the name but i did the "lawyer" test and imagined a lawyer or solicitor walk into court and i thought would i want "ella" to represent me 😂 was just unsure how strong of a name it is

I don't think any of those names are childish, but I do think they are all quite "in" at the moment and she'd probably go to school with a number of girls with the same name. Something to consider if the thought of that bothers you.

Re Mila/Myla/mylah - I would pronounce Mila like Mila Kunis, Myla like "my-lah", I haven't seen a name spelt 'Mylah' before but would pronounce it how it's spelled. Hope that helps.

wildewillow · 11/09/2018 16:58

All lovely names that go nicely with your middle choice.
Myla and Mila are two completely different names in their own right with different pronunciations though.
Personally I think Ella or Evie go better with Kathryn.

Ella Kathryn Johnson
Evie Kathryn Johnson
Mila Kathryn Johnson (Mee-la)
Myla Kathryn Johnsons (My-la)

1stTimeMumofOne · 11/09/2018 17:04

This is all too hard 😂 i suppose it all comes down to what she looks like but i genuinely cannot choose haha!

Evelyn (NN Eve/Evie/Eva) Kathryn Johnson?

Sungura · 11/09/2018 17:20

Mylah Kathryn is quite pretty and a name she can grow into. Ella is one of my favorite names, but I don't think it sounds as rhythmical and lovely with Kathryn.Evie is babyish, not suitable for a growing child. It is hard to decide, I know. It's one of the most important gifts you give your child.

1stTimeMumofOne · 11/09/2018 17:22

Im not too bothered how is sounds with her middle name as the middle name is only really used on forms and stuff. I have to use kathryn as it is my mums name.

I do agree with ella as i really like it, just dont know any strong women with that name which is the only thing putting me off

Libby
Edie
Stella
Lyra
Ivy

Just wanted to add, I love Evie (also expecting a girl!) But I lost count of how many times I heard it during our holiday this year (England)

Alice
Elizabeth/Eliza

Good luck with your induction!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 11/09/2018 18:59

Ella Kathryn is very classy, love it !

madeoficecream · 11/09/2018 19:04

I like Mila the best!
Ella and Evie are incredibly popular there will be loads about

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/09/2018 19:10

Evie Kathryn Johnson.
other ideas.
Lily Kathryn
Lucy Kathryn
Emily Kathryn
Lydia Kathryn

PassportBridgetPants · 11/09/2018 19:19

As above, if I met a Mila I would probably guess Mee-ya or Mee-la. So Myla wins the spelling contest for me. I think Ella is elegant and would be fine for a grown woman, Evie I do find quite childlike as a full name though. Evelina?

deptfordgirl · 11/09/2018 19:27

Ella is lovely and definitely passes the lawyer test. It's good enough for Amal Clooney! Much prefer to Evie which I think does sound a little childish and is everywhere!

1stTimeMumofOne · 11/09/2018 23:12

I think it is narrowed to
Myla
And
Ella

And they were my top two any way so i am still struggling haha!

Thank you x

What about Emily Kathryn Johnson?

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 11/09/2018 23:50

Isn't Myla a cosmetic surgery company?

I'm not keen, it's a bit of a stripper name IMO. And Ella is just a bit blah.

Thetimehascometo · 12/09/2018 00:09

Ella > Myla

Goostacean · 12/09/2018 00:27

Ella! So pretty, and I’d have no problem contacting “my lawyer, Ella” or “my accountant, Ella”. Elle is also very beautiful and maybe sounds a little more sophisticated- although possibly I’m swayed by thinking of Elle McPherson 😊

BackforGood · 12/09/2018 00:38

Don't like Myla (or any of other spellings).

Ella is fine for an adult or child.
Evie could be short for Evelyn if you want to give her the option of a 'fuller' name. 2 disadvantages are that there are very different ways to pronounce it (would that bother you / her ?) and there are LOTS of little ones who have been named Eve or Evie in the last couple of years and that come become a pain when you are always one of several in a group.

ReginaPhalange89 · 12/09/2018 01:37

Ella is lovely. How about Elle ? That seems for adult to me. But both are lovely !

Evie is nice but it's so SO popular, if that matters to you...

Myla/Mila.... They're pronounced differently. My-la or Mila is prounced Mee-la like Mila Kunis the actress . I prefer Mila of the two!

Jeippinghmip · 12/09/2018 01:38

Ella ❤️

MrsFoxPlus4 · 12/09/2018 02:22

I’d pronounce Mila & Myla/h completely differently as I know 2 kids with these names and it’s not the same name 😅.

How about Elle on BC and Ella to everyone else then when she becomes an adult it Ella isn’t fitting Elle is very classly. Even Elenor tbh.

kettleonplease · 12/09/2018 09:11

I would pronounce Mila (Mill-ah), which I much prefer compared to the Mee-la or My-lah pronunciation

Ella is lovely and perfectly acceptable as an adult name. Evie is also a name in it's own right, not just a nickname, so by the time your baby is older will be well established given it's huge popularity.
