What does everyone think? OH and I really like it and like both Auggie and Gus as nicknames. However, I've mentioned it to friends who think its awful lol I loved the little boy Auggie in Wonder so that's probably helping me see it soo positively.
Also any girls name suggestions that are just as strong? Love Alexandra but don't think we could use it as it's in the family already x

I know a 14 year old Augustus he is called Gus .

He is a clever lad. Plays rugby at high level for his club and school and no one bats an eyelid over his name. (Older brother is Archibald known as Archie)

Enko Archibald is a great name :)

I also like Amos, Algernon, Magnus and Aurelius.

I really like it and tried (unsuccessfully) to persuade DH to use it as a middle name, especially since it's a family name our DS's due date was August.

A friend has a Gus/Gussie although this is short for Augustine rather than Augustus.

Gus is my favourite nickname since Gussie makes me think Fink-Nottle from the Jeeves & Wooster books. I still think it's cute though.

Augustus makes me think Gloop, sorry. Gus also makes me think of the little chubby mouse in Cinderella...maybe I need to step away from the kids moviesGrin

Personally it makes me think of Roman emperors! A good strong name, and the nicknames are cute too. I considered it for my baby (born in August)

macdhui · 11/09/2018 10:45

Absolutely love it !

Holimay · 11/09/2018 10:47

What about Gustav/Gustaf?

Sunflower321 · 11/09/2018 10:51

There are a lot more Augustuses around other than the one in Charlie and the chocolate factory!

It's a great name and people will quickly associate the name with your son.

dillytilly · 12/09/2018 12:00

LOVE Augustus ! So what the Gloop connection, it’s only a film after all, I really don’t think it’s an issue. Augustus after all was the first official Emperor of Rome!! Along with Alexander it’s one of my favourite names! And Gus & Auggie are adorable!

Girl names , Diana, Cassandra, Juno, Georgiana, Allegra, etc , a similar classical aesthetic?? Good luck :) x

I love August. I do not love Augustus so much. Augustus Gloop will still be A Thing when your kid goes to school - the book was written in 1964...

Why not just christen him Gus?
