Tiger Lily, Angeline, Penelope and Genevieve

Can I just have some opinions on these names please? Not pregnant or even TTC but just curious

I like Penelope and Genevieve, although realistically they will become Penny and Genny.

Tiger Lily is too celeb copycat try hard.

Angeline is ok , Penelope and Genevieve are lovely

Angeline - sounds like you couldn’t decide between Evangeline and Angelina so invented a yoonique mash-up
Penelope / Genevieve - both lovely but not for siblings as you can’t have Penny and Genny

Tiger Lily - LOL. Stupid name, even for Bob Geldof.
Angeline - ok but it does sound like a mashup of Evangeline/Angela. I like Angelica though.
Penelope - meh
Genevieve - too much name and I don't like Evie.

I get what you mean TroubledLichen but Angeline is a French form of Angela so I assure you I didn't make it up! But I take your point!

If it helps I am French (although I don’t live there) and have never heard of anyone called Angeline... obviously I don’t know everyone in France though! Apologies that I thought it was made up, Evangeline seems to be having a moment so I think that’s stuck in my mind.

TroubledLichen No worries! I asked for opinions! Interesting you've never heard of it though! Perhaps it's an older name? It seems to have peaked in the USA in the 1910s (probably in somewhere like Louisiana) so that might explain it

Angeline sounds better in French. Never liked Penelope.

Genevieve is pretty but I prefer Guinevere or Ginevra.

Tiger Lily is great, one of the few celeb names I like.

Angeline is definitely a French name. I have an aunt with that name.
Tiger Lily is ridiculous. can you imagine having that name as an adult.
Genevieve and Penelope are a bit try-hard for my liking. But miles better than Tiger Lily; they're actual names.

Tiger Lily is so gorgeous. Difficult to pull off though.

I know a 7 year old Angelene - she's... Erm... Rather fiery (my 7 year old son was commended by the after school supervisor for holding her back to stop her beating up both of the girl twins in her class at once - commendation was by way of explaining the bruise on his cheek). I don't think calling a child a name derived from angel or angelic always bodes well, you never know whether they'll be angelic...

So not that one, nor the Peter Pan character

Angeline makes me think of Angelina. Penelope/Penny is nice but although know 3 lovely Pennys and one horrid one, I don't think it's a pretty name. I don't like Genevieve at all even if MN does.

Not to be a stickler but bob geldof didn't name tiger-lily so he gets away with that one!

Penelope is nice as is Geneviève but the French pronunciation of that latter is so much nicer and you’d have the devils own job getting Brit’s to comply.
