Hi all I’m back again, despite knowing I was having a girl from 15 weeks she is here with no name. Feeling the pressure big time, all help appreciated.
Names

Emilia
Ada (DH favourite)
Lydia
Nina

Or Cora both love but could we really call our daughter Cora Kane?

Lydia Kane sounds lovely! congraultaions on your new arrival

allright · 28/08/2018 12:26

Ada Kane sounds like medication, sorry.

Emilia is the best of the list. Difficult surname!

Take your time, use a nn meanwhile.

allright · 28/08/2018 12:28

Corakane remind me of hurricane!

MiriAmmerman · 28/08/2018 14:52

Lydia and Ada don't sound right with Kane imo. Lidocaine is an local anaesthetic, and Adakane sounds like it should be.

Emilia and Cora are both nice - Cora Kane is fine (I think it sounds quite feisty), and if you both love it, go for it!

Rosemary46 · 28/08/2018 14:57

Defo Emilia or Amelia or Lydia, the short surname needs a 3 syllable first name.

RebeccaWrongDaily · 28/08/2018 15:24

Really not keen on Amelie/Amelia/Emilia etc.

love all the others though.

missmsormrs · 28/08/2018 15:29

Something like Elizabeth or Georgina works a lot better. Your list is lovely but the names are very soft sounding with such a hard surname which is why they run into each other - LydiaKane - like Novocain...

starkid · 28/08/2018 16:59

Cora Kane!

I also like Lydia and Ada, but they don't sound as good with the surname.

Also congratulations :)

ThunderR0ad78 · 28/08/2018 17:20

Clara instead of Cora?

My fave from your list is Emilia !

ApolloandDaphne · 28/08/2018 19:35

I like them all but Lydia is my favourite.

Frazzled2207 · 29/08/2018 08:24

Amelia or Cora. Or both!
Anyone who's watched the Handmaid's Tale will have gone off Lydia big time.

Enko · 29/08/2018 08:38

I love

Cora & Ada
Nina is nice
I am not keen on Emilia or Lydia to me they are just a bit too " safe and overused" I don't think they are horrible names though just the other 3 are lovely and those two are to me a bit " meh"

mostdays · 29/08/2018 08:41

Cora is lovely! One of my best loved friends is a Cora.
Of your other list I love Lydia. Gorgeous, timeless name.

Quangot · 29/08/2018 09:12

Emilia Kane is my favourite of those.

Naomi Kane would be nice, or Ada Naomi Kane.

Quangot · 29/08/2018 09:18

Louisa Kane, Jemima Kane, Sophie Kane?

TatianaLarina · 29/08/2018 10:09

Emilia Kane sounds the best from your list.

I agree some of them sound like painkillers.

GinIsIn · 29/08/2018 22:26

Not Ada - Ada Kane sounds like a drug.

Cora Kane isn’t bad.

Clara?

Mayhemmumma · 30/08/2018 20:29

You can soften Ada Kane with a middle name like Everlyn or Vivienne or something equally lovely.

Soontobe60 · 30/08/2018 20:31

Definitely Cora Kane! Really does sound like a superhero!
What about her middle name? Elizabeth?
Cora Elizabeth Kane. Think we need a pic 😂😂

pennycarbonara · 30/08/2018 20:37

Emily Kane is a song by Art Brut. Probably not heard much these days except by people in their 30s who were fans of the band, but I'd be reluctant to use it in case she found it annoying when she was older after googling (or whatever people will be doing in 12 years time) the name.

It is a tricky surname because a lot of things could sound a bit like a drug or product as PP said about Lydia.

I like Nina, but would mostly be considering longer first names, and also nothing beginning with C or K (C. Kane, I can imagine teenagers might think it sounds like cocaine)

LucyFox · 30/08/2018 20:44

Cora Louise Kane would work

My preference though would be a slightly longer/more syllable name like Juliette, Allison, Antonia, Susanna, Nicola, Elizabeth, Maria, Emily, Belinda, Olivia ....

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 30/08/2018 21:40

Personally I think you need a longer name with Cane.

Elisabeth Cane
Harriet Cane
Florence Cane
Matilda Cane
Victoria Cane
Mirabelle Cane

didyouseetheflaresinthesky · 30/08/2018 21:41

Lydia or Nina I think are the best.

Izzyw1983 · 31/08/2018 19:28

How about Cora Ada Kane?

minnierose3 · 31/08/2018 19:41

Sorry but I don't like Cora Kane, those are all quite 'top 10' sounding which personally I avoid of the list you gave Lydia is the best
