*Venetia sounds pretentious to me
Which on here apparently means middle class.*
Not at all. I grew up in a working class area, but now live and teach somewhere much more middle class. The names I think of as standard middle class names are solid, traditional ones: Elizabeth, Olivia, James, William. That sort of thing.
I've never come across Venetia. Maybe it's more common in upper-middle class circles or different parts of the country. To be honest, it sounds a bit twattish to me (but I was too polite to say that in my first post). It sounds like it would go with names like Tarquin.
