4 days old and nameless!

My daughter is four days old and we still haven’t decided on a name. We have a few options, just not a favourite!

My husband’s favourite is Erin. How popular is this? I didn’t think it was, I’ve only known of one who would be in her 20s now. Since looking on here though it seems to get mentioned a lot.
He also likes Eliza. I like both of these and would happily call her either.

I like Alice and Nancy. Husband isn’t as keen on these but doesn’t mind them and would be happy with either.

I like them all and don’t have a favourite. I think if I had to choose one though I’d go with Nancy but only because I think it’s the most different but I could be wrong about that.

Family or friends say their favourite and that sort of sways me but then someone else will say something different so then I change my mind again. I’m hoping the opinions of mumsnet will help.

Also, we already have a Phoebe.

Thank you

I like Eliza, No a few Nacy and Erin's so they aren't both popular. Always liked Alice it's never been popular but it's a well known name.

I also like Nelsa, Elsie, Tara or Clara

HankyPanky04 · 21/08/2018 19:43

I have a Phoebe! Can't say her sisters names as it will out me.

Out of your names I do prefer Erin. Then Alice then Nancy

daisypond · 21/08/2018 19:43

I like Eliza and Alice best. Alice is very classic. I think it goes best with Phoebe. I like Erin, but I think it's only suitable for those with Irish roots, personally. I know quite a few and they're all at least part-Irish. Nancy is OK. It has a certain charm and it's quite current, but I prefer it as a pet name for Anne.

Greeneyedgeek83 · 21/08/2018 19:43

Phoebe and Nancy x

Mammmoo · 21/08/2018 19:47

Erin is Welsh. It means Ireland. It's very popular here in wales. 2 in FDA reception class and I know lots of others.

Mammmoo · 21/08/2018 19:47

Dds reception class not FDA!
Nancy is my favourite of those, dd2 was almost Nancy.

userabcname · 21/08/2018 19:48

I like Eliza

TroubledLichen · 21/08/2018 19:49

Love Nancy! Also like Alice and Eliza. Erin I don’t like at all.

Backhometothenorth · 21/08/2018 19:51

We almost went with Eliza and really glad we didn't as it is becoming very popular. Sounds very harsh in a northern accent also. Love all your names and had them on our shortlist . We chose Esther and love it.

HJL2506 · 21/08/2018 19:53

I much prefer Erin! Never met a baby Erin! Or an adult Erin come to think of it. I know a three year old Nancy and a 2 year old Alice. Congrats!!

Parker231 · 21/08/2018 19:54

Alice - a classic but never dated. Goes well with Phoebe.

SoyDora · 21/08/2018 19:56

I know loads of Alice’s. At least 10 under 5! It’s very popular here.
Love Erin, I only know one aged 34! I also like Eliza... I know one 4 year old Eliza. Nancy is probably my least favourite but I don’t actually dislike it, all are pleasant names.

MorrisDancingViv · 21/08/2018 19:57

Assuming you are in England or Wales

Erin was 46th most popular name in 2016
Alice 17th
Nancy 70th

(the Office of National Statistics breaks the names down further in countries/regions if you want to find out what is more popular in your area)

Sandstormbrewing · 21/08/2018 19:57

Erin Eliza goes well I think.

Gingerbiscuit4 · 21/08/2018 19:57

Erin is lovely! I know alot of people manage to find a name they love whilst they are expecting but our DS was named at 5 days old and DD was 6 weeks before she had a name. We had no names in mind before they arrived. We love their names! ( a little unusual and both Irish) congratulations!!!

bridgetreilly · 21/08/2018 19:58

I don't think any of your options are hugely popular. For me, I'd probably pick Nancy or Eliza, but they're all good!

SleepWarrior · 21/08/2018 20:07

Nancy or Eliza go best with Phoebe I think. They are all nice though. Congratulations Flowers

Notreadyforkidstogrowupyet · 21/08/2018 20:10

Erin is nice so is alice haven't met anyone by those names .I always liked ruby and jasmin

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 21/08/2018 20:12

Love Nancy.

auntyflonono · 21/08/2018 20:15

Alice or Erin!

Peachbubble · 21/08/2018 20:19

I like Alice or Eliza. I'd probably choose Alice to go with Phoebe. Congratulations!

MeyMary · 21/08/2018 20:20

Alice is beautiful. Classy, strong, timeless... And used in quite a few languages (French, Italian, Portuguese, obviously English...).

Eliza is really pretty as well.

Erin is nice.

Nancy isn't my cup of tea. And it just doesn't go with Phoebe...

kenandbarbie · 21/08/2018 20:20

I don't like Erin
I like Nancy
Eliza is lovely and nicest with Phoebe

kenandbarbie · 21/08/2018 20:21

I like Alice
I like Nancy, is it usually short for something?

AnyaMoondial · 21/08/2018 20:21

Nancy is my favourite. It is such a strong and cheerful name! Love Eliza too, very sophisticated.

Agree with pp that there are oodles of Alices now, it’s been in the top 20 for a while now I think.
