Hello. We really like Emilia. Pronouced Emily-ah. How would you pronounce it? Thank you!

It's our girl name if DC2 is a girl (due in a few weeks), we're probably going with Milly as a day-to-day name agree with PPs on pronunciation

Really dislike the ugly 'mealy' sound in the name, sorry!

The only correct pronunciation is Amelia but with an 'E' sound at the start.

Your idea of 'Emily-ah' is just wrong.

Emilea? Emelia? Neither look quite right to me, but you might be able to think of something.

I knew a girl named Emilie (just pronounced like Emily) and so often people pronounced her name em-eel or em-eel-ee. I'm not really sure why it happened so often, but it did.

Emilia will definitely be pronounced Em-ee-Lee-ah by most (Emilia Fox, Emilia Clarke and Emilia from saccone-joly youtubers all pronounce it that way), although I do like the Emil-EE-ah pronunciation too.

Can anyone suggest names with a similar feel? Ending in a....

Gabriella, Francesca, Jessica were on our shortlist.

I also liked Sienna, Allegra, Sophia and Alicia

Agree with everyone. Terrible way to try to say the name.
It is like Amelia, but with the 'eh' sound rather than the short 'a'.
I know a 25/26 yr old whose name is Emelia, and she has spent her entire life explaining to people about her eat European heritage and that her name isn't 'Amelia', so I wouldn't even choose Emilia. However, if you do, then at least pronounce it properly.

Can you not have Amelia? It's a nice name.

The standard pronunciation is Em-me-lea, I have never heard it Emily-ah.

Gorgeous name Op. I know from personal experience that it is pronounced Em-ill-ia. My DD would not answer to Amelia,I know she would assume it was a class mate being spoken to, Emilia is pronounced exactly as it is spelt around here. (UK)

Emilia is Amelia with a slight "eh" variation on the first syllable, rather than the "ah" of Amelia.

Emily-a is definitely incorrect, as is em-ILL-ee-ah. The emphasis should be on the second syllable: eh-MEE-lee-ah.

I pronounce it Em-e-leah. Like Amelia but with an Em sound rather than an Am at the start.

It is lovely but there are so many Amelias, Emilias and Emilys.
