Violet is just awful. It looks like violent and toilet. It's just such a wet fish name too.

Madison is okay. Better than Violet.

How about Macarena? Mac (MacKenzie etc) names are quite trendy.

Violet is the name of the bratty little girl in Willy Wonka.

Ada So? It's also the name of a beautiful flower. It's ridiculous to focus on one character.

I really don't like Violet, but it's much better than Madison. Madeleine is really nice, though.

Violet! Forget the Dahl character....there’s Violette Szabo, Violet Baudelaire, Violet in the Incredibles, and the wonderful Hole song!

Although I do prefer Violet I don’t understand the awful reactions to Madison. It’s a nice name and the nn Maddie is sweet.

Madison used to sound made up, now sounds dated.
Violet is both pretty and edgy, I love Madeline but really don’t want a maddy, so didn’t use it.

I think Madison became popular because of the film Mermaid and the telly programme Moonlighting, which was on in the late 80s. The character in that was Maddie, short for Madelyn, but Madison
It peaked about 10 years ago so is dated.
Madeleine is a classic name but .
Madeleine peaked around 2005 so will also seem dated. A lot of people associate the name with 2007.

I like Madison. Dislike Violet and predict it will become ridiculously popular soon also. Like Madeline. Can't stand Madeleine.
