After taking into account all the comments have decided to let Alexa go (and let my love for the nn Lexie go towards a cat or something XD). Now need to choose between these names so your opinions would be great

I was between Angeline and Violet for my DD.
I think Evangeline is beautiful though. I had a friend called Evan which I think is a lovely nn

Lucylookingforhelp · 08/08/2018 21:44

@AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight I completely agree with you and not to sure where DH gets it from. Nina is a lovely name in its own right but doesn’t quite come from our choices. Would rather have a nn that derives from her real name to be honest but you never know what they choose once they grow up

Which works best with your surname / middle names? Any unfortunately initial problems? That's how I'd choose between the final two

Lucylookingforhelp · 08/08/2018 22:05

Middle name is going to be Margot, Evangeline may go slightly better with it but not much difference to be honest which is why we’re both a bit stuck. DH suggested asking the family but reluctant to tell them the names for fear of reactions similar to ones earlier on in the pregnancy when we were first starting up with ideas

Initials would be EMW or VMW so also not seeing any problems there (wish there were Grin). Am I missing something

Definitely Violet. I used to like Evangeline, but these days it just reminds me of the evangelical Christian movement that's backing Donald Trump.

haribosmarties · 08/08/2018 22:13

I like both but would go for Violet because of the popularity of Eve names at the moment

Whitelisbon · 08/08/2018 22:16

Evangeline.
My dd is an Evangeline, and I still love it. It's a mouthful, but not any more than loads of other names.

imip · 08/08/2018 22:16

Both names are 2 if my dds middle namesGrin I prefer Evangeline. Eve, Evie nick name!

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 08/08/2018 22:37

Violet Margot doesn't flow, IMO. As for the 'evangelical' connotations, all Evangeline actually means is 'bringer of good news', which I think is a lovely meaning :)

Sophronia · 08/08/2018 23:02

Evangeline Margot

Canshopwillshop · 08/08/2018 23:04

Violet

Jollyholliday · 08/08/2018 23:04

I prefer Evangeline to Violet but even more so now you've said the middle name will be Margot!
Violet Margot sounds too clunky to me and doesn't flow

DC2018 · 08/08/2018 23:07

I love Violet. Evangeline is a bit of a mouthful tbh x

Cornwall73 · 08/08/2018 23:10

Both names were on our long list for DD. How does Evangeline Margot work with the surname? We went for a different name in the end but Evangeline was pretty high on my list but not on DHs.

I like both. Evangeline is due a come back its beautiful. Plus it reminds me of that song Grin

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 08/08/2018 23:16

Margot is so much nicer than Evangeline and Violet. I would choose that OP.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 08/08/2018 23:18

Violet!

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 08/08/2018 23:31

Evangeline. Violet is lovely too, but doesn't flow with Margot. Wrt nicknames, people will follow your lead, so if you call her by her full name or preferred nn they will usually copy you.
Schools always ask you to fill out a form stating what your child prefers to be called and my dc's teachers have always asked whether I mind them abbreviating dd's name.

Mousefunky · 09/08/2018 02:15

I love Evangeline but I feel as though it would be shortened to Eva or Evie and both are ridiculously common.

Violet is also fairly common atm though. I prefer Evangeline.

Pemba · 09/08/2018 04:52

Violet has a nice meaning, but the name itself doesn't have a nice sound, if you say it over. Much prefer Evangeline.

Argeles · 09/08/2018 05:04

Evangeline is really beautiful. I personally do not like Violet.

miamiibiza · 09/08/2018 05:27

Violet
