Hi everyone. Hoping you can help me make a decision on our final few boys names for our baby. We both love Frankie for a boy but have had mixed views from family, friends etc. Don’t want to use Francis for various reasons. So would really welcome honest opinions. Other names we like are Daniel and Joseph.

Joseph is lovely.

Frankie is a girls name to me, sorry.

DC2018 · 08/08/2018 20:07

I really like all of them but Daniel is my favourite x

HJL2506 · 08/08/2018 20:28

I really love Frankie, it was on our shortlist. The only thing that put me off was to imagine a 30 or 40 year old man called Frankie. .

crispsahoy · 08/08/2018 20:30

I have a boy called Franky. We decided on the Y as thought IE made it more feminine. My parents weren't sure at first but love it now

pilates · 08/08/2018 20:32

I prefer Joseph

MikeUniformMike · 08/08/2018 20:32

I like Daniel and Joseph. Not keen on Frankie. Quite like Francis but as a a mn. Frank is OK but I wouldn't choose it. Daniel and Joseph are classic names.

greendale17 · 08/08/2018 20:34

I really don’t like Frankie as a name. Just seems gimmicky.

Also I would say Frankie is a girls name.

Disfordarkchocolate · 08/08/2018 20:35

Joseph then Daniel for me. Frankie is more of a nickname but if you love it go for it. I don't think it's one of those names that will limit their future options at all.

AtticaRose · 08/08/2018 20:38

If you love Frankie I would go Frank NN Frankie.

RamonaQuimbyage38 · 08/08/2018 20:39

Absolutely love all 3 names. But I would probably put Francis or Frank on the birth certificate even if I was planning to call him Frankie. I know many grown up Franks,. One of them is even a Franky (and he's over 40 and quite happy about introducing himself as Franky) but his full name is Franklin.

ReginaPhalange89 · 08/08/2018 20:45

I quite like Frankie but I agree with a pp that I can't picture it for someone in their 30s etc. It's cute for a little one but not so much older .

Joseph and Daniel are both lovely for all ages. They're both on my list for future ! I love Daniel best, Daniel for a little boy is adorable and I love nn Dan for someone in their 20s/30s

redanniemac · 08/08/2018 21:21

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the honest opinions and I’m taking them all on board. Any further comments very welcome.

Franklin?

Sophronia · 08/08/2018 23:01

Daniel

WillowRose79 · 09/08/2018 15:20

Joseph I love

daisypond · 09/08/2018 15:28

I think Frankie is too babyish, and I would also think it's a girl's name. I really like Daniel - this is my favourite - and then Joseph.

firsttime17 · 09/08/2018 16:03

I really like Joseph and Frankie! Joseph is classic/timeless and will suit the baby at any age, However I still prefer the name Frankie for some reason it's a really lovely name... let us know what you choose xx

LeeMiller · 09/08/2018 16:47

Joseph is a beautiful and timeless name. Daniel is also nice.

I agree that Frankie sounds like a girl's name. It also makes me think of Frankie and Benny's, the Italian-American chain restaurant. It's a bit twee for an adult (but ok as a nickname). I'd use Francis, Frank or Franklin and save Frankie as a nickname.

Icklepup · 12/08/2018 15:09

I like Daniel

kenandbarbie · 12/08/2018 20:04

Franklin would be nice nn Frankie
Joseph is nice too

moredoll · 12/08/2018 20:09

Frank or Franklin nn Frankie

Belindabauer · 12/08/2018 21:48

Joseph is lovely and won't date like Frankie.

DiegoMadonna · 13/08/2018 00:45

Agree that Frankie is babyish. I like Frank and Franklin though.

I also like Joseph. Strong solid name.

PepperSteaks · 13/08/2018 07:58

They were the only two boys names me and DH agreed on for boys.

vandrew4 · 13/08/2018 14:47

I have a franklin. call him Frankie at the moment cos he's only young but Franklin and Frank I think work great for a grown up.
Oh, and we have a Joseph too!
