I am coming closer and closer to due date, and not really a clue on names. I had some great suggestions on here for boys, so hoping to get your thoughts on girls names.

We like
Cara
Alexa - but I'm worried about the Amazon thing!
Aine
Orlaith
Ailish - but how to spell it?! I prefer Eilish, and I know there's another version without the h and has a fada somewhere!

Middle name would be Bridget, after my nan.

Irish family, and not too worried about child having to spell out their name all the time.
Any thoughts on the ones we have/ any similar suggestions? X

Cara - nice. Popular though, if that bothers you.
Alexa - it's ok. Nothing special though tbh
Aine - this is a bit middle aged to me.
Orlaith - love
Ailish - do you mean Eilis (fada on e and second i afaik) when you're talking about the variation? I don't love Ailish but Eilis is nice.

Names: Riona, Saoirse, Liadain?

How about Alannah?

HeyDolly · 06/08/2018 18:04

I like Maeve (prefer it spelt that way rather than Meadhbh) and Clodagh.

Cara is fabulous. And not particularly popular, at least not in the top 100 last year.

Lenny1987 · 06/08/2018 18:21

Yep, Eilis. My husband prefers the A version, but I don't. Alannah, Maeve and Clodagh are already used in immediate family, so you're all on the right lines! And I love Saoirse but my dh says I don't say it correctly, I think it's just because it sounds different said with an Irish accent than an English one!how do you say Liadain, I haven't come across it before?

Alexa - but I'm worried about the Amazon thing!: I'd be worried as well. Maybe Alexandra, Alexia or Alex?

Ginandplatonic · 07/08/2018 07:48

Absolutely love Orlaith!

Bridget is by far my favourite. Such a great name so I'd use that.
