I'm not sure but I like the meaning behind it.

How is it pronounced? The same as Thea?

AtticaRose · 03/08/2018 19:04

What are you thinking is the meaning behind it?

If you're looking for the Ancient Greek wore for "goddess", that's Thea. Theia would be a misspelling of that word.

Celestie · 03/08/2018 19:04

Thea is lovely

FASH84 · 03/08/2018 19:05

It's a typo

LucyFox · 03/08/2018 19:05

I know it’s the name of a goddess but the spelling looks “yooneek” could you maybe look at Thea which is an alternate spelling?

weebarra · 03/08/2018 19:05

I love Thea, not sure about your spelling.

MarthasGinYard · 03/08/2018 19:06

Spelt
Thea it's lovely

Immigrantsong · 03/08/2018 19:07

Theia in Greek with this very spelling means aunt. Go for Thea.

RoboJesus · 03/08/2018 19:15

Theia is the planet that combined with the proto-earth and formed the moon, named after the Greek titaness and meaning goddess

Just because it's a real thing, doesn't male or a name. Or maybe I should call future baby screwdriver? Radiator?

Seriously though, I do like The a, your spelling will be interpreted as a mistake.

MarthasGinYard · 03/08/2018 19:18

Oh

BendydickCuminsnatch · 03/08/2018 19:19

I think it has an unnecessary i (that’s having read the moon/planet explanation) sorry.

RideOn · 03/08/2018 19:23

Theia=Thea

I would go with the Thea spelling

I know a little girl called Gaia, it would be amazing if they bumped into one another Grin

Hippopotas · 03/08/2018 19:27

I like it. I love the Greek myth meaning

RoboJesus · 03/08/2018 19:28

Thea would be a wrong spelling though. The original and actual name is Theia and I like it for the meaning.

OP posts:
Hippopotas · 03/08/2018 19:28

@seeyounexttue it is a name though. It’s the name of a character in Greek myth. Therefore it’s a name.

MarthasGinYard · 03/08/2018 19:29

The spelling looks try hard to be different.

Elllicam · 03/08/2018 19:33

How do you pronounce it? Is it Thee-ah or They-ah? I think I would probably say the latter.

Fairyoriginal · 03/08/2018 19:36

I'd think it was said Thay-eya

EekThreek · 03/08/2018 19:38

I know a Theia. I knew her name before I saw it written down.

I like it as much as I like the Thea/Freya type names, which isn't loads but I don't dislike it either. If you like it, use it! Just be ready for lots of misspelling and mispronunciation.

Me and Dd1 have names that are frequently misspelled and it doesnt bother us at all.

RideOn · 03/08/2018 19:40

The spelling wouldn't be wrong if you thought of it from the view that the planet was named after the Greek goddess Thea. It would be the same name.

Anyway if you want an honest opinion, whatever the meaning only go for a name that you like the sound of, you'll be saying it much more than thinking of its origin. I'd spell it in the recognized form. It is an interesting idea where you found the name, but she will be often correcting people and explaining she is named after the planet not the goddess, and the planet is spelt slightly different.

AtticaRose · 03/08/2018 19:44

Fair enough, I stand corrected.

I did Greek at uni, and don't remember this goddess - so it's reasonably obscure. It's nice enough, but be prepared for assumptions that you've spelled a common name oddly, and a lot of having to spell it out.

RoboJesus · 03/08/2018 19:46

No the planet was named after the Greek titaness and God Theia. See I don't like Fraya and I don't think I'd like Theia half as much without the meaning.

cholka · 03/08/2018 19:50

Theia don't-a know what to call her

mrsbont87 · 03/08/2018 19:53

I've got a Thea Olivia and she is always complimented on her name. I think its a beautiful name. The meaning behind the name you like is lovely, but remember you won't be telling every single person you meet the reason for her name so some people might not get it x
