if you were to name your dc's five best friends, what would their names be? it will be interesting to see if we can work out regional, generational and even "class" factors. For DS, the youngest of my 3 DCs, his five best friends would be:
Guy
Findlay
Angus
Andrew
James

My Dc are at uni so their friends are from all sorts of different regions. My own best friends (in my town) at the moment are probably:

Lesley
Jackie
Lisa
Julie
Julia

and male friends

Matt
Mark
Shaun

...OK, maybe I don't have 5 male friends that are "my" friends.

There is a definite Scottish flavour among my children's friends' names - Morven, Callum, Fraser, Brodie, Scott, Jamie. Also more standard names like Grace, Hannah, Eva, Daniel, Jack and Cara.

For me growing up:
Karen
Karyn
Jenny
Lucy
Alison

For DC where we live now
Euan
Dillon
Ethan
Ade
Lewis
Eleanor
Alice
Christina
Clodagh
Kirsten
Evie

For DC where we used to live
Diego
Harrison
Hayden
Carson
Amy
Ella
Nikolett
Maci
Grace
Charlotte
Karley
Avery

Looking at those lists I’m not sure mine is massively obvious in terms of geography, although probably is in terms of age!

For the DC, I think the boys names are more geographically outing than the girls names.

Applepudding2018 · 03/08/2018 22:50

@dementedma I think you may be similar age to me - I have several friends called Karen - 2 of which have/had partners called Paul!! I also have 2 friends Karen with partners called John.

Tom

The most popular names when DS in primary school (won't give his friends names now as more 'one-off' names - he's 17.
