What names were on your list for your DC and why did you decide against them?

Nicole. I changed at the last hour as her initials would have been NOBGrin

userabcname · 31/07/2018 18:19

I liked George (PIL's dog so DH couldn't take seriously), Max (SIL called her baby Max shortly before we had DS), Jacob (we know too many Jakes), Spencer (DH vetoed) and Sebastian (a strong contender but ultimately we liked another name more).

Pingipinguin · 31/07/2018 18:22

Oh no! 😂
My nephew's initials are CPS Grin
I also know somebody whose initials spell OMG

Joshua - friend used it just before us
William and Summer - vetoed by DH
Adam - sounds weird with our surname
Alistair - associated with a negative thing in my extended family

Ididnothearthat · 31/07/2018 18:41

Jessica but DH always had a jokey crush thing for Jessica Rabbit!

chipsandcurrysaucemonster · 31/07/2018 18:47

I'm very fond of Caroline but nobody agrees with me

HJL2506 · 31/07/2018 18:48

Sidney - my brothers wife has just split uk with his wife Sydney.

Vinnie - we fell out with friends who went in to name their son Vincent.

HJL2506 · 31/07/2018 18:49

My brother had just split up with ^

TinyTickler · 31/07/2018 18:54

Spencer. Because my husband is mark and it would have led to a lifetime of Marks and Spencer jokes.

SnuggyBuggy · 31/07/2018 18:57

There was a girl's name I had always wanted to use but in combination with my married surname it's the same name as the only British woman to be given a whole life tariff for the torture and murder of multiple women so it was quickly discounted.

motortroll · 31/07/2018 19:03

Vincent for a boy but my close friend has an on off relationship with a tosspot with that name so would never use!

Dh wanted Wilson...he was adamant but I didn't think we were having a boy anyway so just rolled my eyes!

Dd1 I liked Charlotte but glad we didn't as there are 5 Charlie's in her year group (boys and girls)

Dd2 I liked Constance but chose something else in the end

Dd3 I liked Helena but we disagreed how to pronounce it!

Potential boys were Alec, Finley, Dominic and the aforementioned Wilson and Vincent.

I also had Winter for a boy..,we used it as dd3 middle name.

Seniorschoolmum · 31/07/2018 19:09

Vivienne Rose or Jennifer Eve

And then pfb was a boy. The first boy cousin to his 14 girl cousins. Smile

IWouldLikeToKnow · 31/07/2018 19:10

Luke - husband vetoed as he had a colleague with a son of that name. (Not sure why this meant we couldn't use the name)
Ethan - husband hated it (was my top choice)

qumquat · 31/07/2018 20:03

I love Hero for a girl but I didn't quite have the nerve.

Highpeak · 31/07/2018 20:35

Lara is my all time favourite but didn't work with middle name we wanted to use

Carmen, too alliterative with surname

Littleloaf · 31/07/2018 22:05

Francesca or Xanthe for DD. DH thinks they're bloody horrible names. I also vetoed his suggestion of Josette for the same reason Grin

Picknickers · 31/07/2018 23:36

Vera. OH told his family and they put him off it. Dawn them! This baby will end up nameless.

Picknickers · 31/07/2018 23:37

Damn them I mean. Too funny as MIL is Dawn 😂

JacintaJones · 31/07/2018 23:42

Xavier and Jezebel.

I vetoed Brett and Cadence.

Its a wonder our children have names we both agreed upon!

Oddsocksforeveryone · 31/07/2018 23:52

Felix and Sebastian. For DS2 I called names out in the back garden as we couldn't decide and realised we'd both chosen cat names.
William. (Also ds2) I didn't like Bill for short but that's what his dad would use.
DS2 everyone was convinced I was carrying a girl so until 20 weeks we'd chosen the name Daisy.
Lucan, on the list before we found out DD was a girl. I liked it so much it went on DS3s list but was too similar to DDs name.

Brokenfurnitureandroses · 01/08/2018 09:49

I loved Emmet and Senan but hubby didn’t!

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 01/08/2018 09:51

Noel as it’s a family name but history of it is sad and I lost my bottle.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 01/08/2018 10:04

For dd2, Leonie or Tabitha... we couldn't use them because we'd already called ds1 Felix. 🐈

jazzyfizzles · 01/08/2018 10:33

We wanted vinnie for a boy, but felt we couldn't with jones as a surname!

user1499786242 · 01/08/2018 10:42

Pearl but sounds awful with our last name!!
