www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5989825/Britons-pick-favourite-spellings-long-contested-names.html

Found this while looking at a story from another thread.
Agree with all the boys' ones except Philip (looks right to me with one L) and Gerry (Jerry just makes me think of the cartoon).
Prefer Clare to Claire, but the variations on Ann(e), T(h)eresa and the many different spellings of Catherine and Lindsay (far more than they've listed) I'm just resigned to as they always seemed equally popular with no default.

I think Marc is much nicer than Mark, Jon better than John and Laurence better than Lawrence. Not sure on Carl/Karl - I think I lean towards the K though...

I think all the girls ones were great, except for Teresa and Sara. Those spellings look far better than the counterparts!

Philip not Phillip
Laurence not Lawrence
Gerry not Jerry but it depends if it's short for Gerald or Jeremy or whatever
otherwise agree.
Ann and Lindsay
otherwise agree.

Only degerates like Clare/Clair over Claire. Not that I'm biased.

I see Clare and Claire are different names, like Ann and Anne.
But other people won't and won't see why they mind the missing/added letter.

as not are.

Ugh... I always knew my name was the awkwardly spelled version 😡
