Help us narrow down our long list!

We're really struggling (me especially) to narrow down our list. This is definitely my last pregnancy so maybe it's knowing that I'll never have the chance to use them again but we definitely need some help! Here's the list...

Boys: Dominic, Elijah, Jasper & Zachary | Girls: Beatrix, Cecily, Elodie, Felicity, Imogen, Margot & Penelope

& ones we're still undecided on but discussing...
Boys: Alexander, Arthur, Benjamin, Elwood, George, Julian, Oliver, Oscar, Reuben, Sebastian & Samuel

Girls: Calliope, Cecilia, Eloise, Emilia, Emmeline, Esmée, Evangeline, Evelyn, Florence, Francesca, Genevieve, Hazel, Hermione, Josephine, Lucia, Matilda, Ophelia, Persephone, Primrose, Seren, Sienna, Willow & Winter

Our children's names' are ranked #241, #156 & #365 (according to cso.ie) - probably more on the traditional side/well known names but not overly popular here (more so in the UK except maybe DD1 but it has risen in popularity since we named her, 6 years ago) I understand some names on the list are more 'out there' than others. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it (especially with how long the list is lol)

Just read your update... sorry.
I like Josephine/Josie.

Aurora is a beautiful name 😍

pixieloux · 26/07/2018 16:07

Thank you, @Treaclepie19 😊 My family didn't like her name when we first mentioned we were considering it (in 2011, she was born Jan 2012)... They thought it was too unusual so I can't imagine what they'd think if we announced Elwood and Persephone 😂

Still didn't manage to get the list right! Calliope is also a maybe and I'm also kind of missing Jasper too... Argh! What is wrong with me lol.

Love Margot and Seren

padfootprongs · 26/07/2018 21:21

I love Elijah and Margot from your narrowed down list!

kaylanelson · 26/07/2018 21:40

Jasper 💙 Elodie or Penelope 💖

pixieloux · 26/07/2018 21:54

WDYT of Elias, Miles & Warren? I feel like we need to bump our boy's list up a bit and not put all our eggs in one basket lol.

Really love miles! 😍💙👌

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who commented. We've managed to reduce our list and now have a much more manageable one, with your help...

Elias, Elijah & Zachary
Cecily, Elodie, Imogen, Margot & Penelope

Maybes...
Dominic, Miles & Sebastian
Beatrix, Eloise, Emmeline, Evangeline & Felicity

Some lovely choices there. I actually prefer your maybes to your first choices. As I’ve read through the thread I have kept hoping that Eloise might get promoted to the A-list! Love it.

Miles and Sebastian are fab too.

pixieloux · 28/07/2018 13:49

Thanks, @LarkDescending

We love Eloise too but with Louise being my middle name I've felt it's a bit much. I think we'll promote it if we can think of a way to give DH's name a nod too but otherwise I feel iffy on it... Not that he cares lol.

I have really fallen in love with Miles! We tend to go for names that can be shortened though and I wonder if he'd feel like he wasn't missing out on not having a nickname? Especially when his siblings do. We're worried that having an Aurora and a Sebastian would make us look like huge Disney fans lol... It'd get promoted in a heartbeat otherwise.

For me out of your definites it would be Zachary and Imogen (or Penelope... I'm not sure!)
Maybes it would be Sebastian and Beatrix.

Beatrix is on our list. Tabitha is my favourite girls name but I know that's like marmite.

pixieloux · 29/07/2018 14:55

@Treaclepie19 We love Beatrix, just not the NN Trixie lol. I'm not sure if it will people's natural go to? Tabitha is lovely. I know what you mean about a marmite name as Aurora seems to be one of them going by online threads lol. Everyone we've met has commented on how beautiful it is however

I love Aurora, I'd totally use it if DH was on board.
Of course I may not get the chance anyway!

Yeah I think Trixie is one of the possible NN. That or Bea I'd say.

MariaMadita · 29/07/2018 15:46

Dominic: ok
Elijah: really nice
Jasper: it's nice but feels a bit trendy
Zachary: it's not my cup of tea but it's a really "good", solid name.

Beatrix: ok.
Cecily: I prefer Cecilia.
Elodie: I personally dislike it. So wet...
Felicity: nice.
Imogen: nice.
Margot: love it!
Penelope: ok.

MariaMadita · 29/07/2018 15:56

Miles is great. :)

A Miles could be called M/Em, My, Les, Lessie (is that too girly?) or maybe something based on his middle or surname (if he wants more options)...

I really like Sebastian. Sebastian Miles would be nice.

I also like Miles Sebastian but the names do run into each other, which I personally wouldn't mind but many do...
Miles Nathaniel would be fab imo.

pixieloux · 29/07/2018 17:09

@Treaclepie19 We like Bea but as there's always the chance of Trixie, we don't know how we feel - the same with Dominic/Dom.

Thanks, @MariaMadita. I do really like Miles... I've seen Milo suggested as a sort of pet name (as it's not really a shortened form lol) which we like but it clashes with our son's. We've also created a bit of a theme with our LO's middle names in that they're all Irish... We have Rafferty, Rowan, Tadhg & Quinn on our list for boy's middle names so it'd have to be Miles Rafferty as it's the only one that flows lol.
