Baby names

Jasper or Rufus?

Baby boy was born 3 days ago and after quite a lot of wrangling, we’ve managed to get the list down to two names.
We already have a son called Sebastian.
I’m aware many will think of these names as dog/cat/, that’s fine, had he been a girl I would have chosen Tabitha!
Votes please!

Jasper leading by one on MN.
In RL, it’s Rufus. Argh! Might flip a coin.

Jasper, although I'm not keen on either

Jasper by far ... Rufus is a very harsh sounding name + do you really want a child with the nickname of Roof?

Rufus is nice.

Jasper is a wasp, or a pantomime villain.

Love Sebastian and Jasper.

Rufus was my grandmother's cranky Pekinese :) also like Rupert or, even better, Rafferty.

These were our final two boy names last year! (Well, along with Rupert.) Thank god we had a Jemima in the end, otherwise I think the child would still be nameless! We went back and forth endlessly.

They are both great names. I think Sebastian and Rufus are a fantastic brother set so that would be my choice.

Rufus! I think it sounds great with Sebastian.

I vote Rufus. I recently met a lovely 8 year old Rufus, he was so kind with my nearly 2 year old - playing with her and being so patient explaining his and his younger brothers game to her so she could play. He told me he'd been in trouble at school that day because he didn't want to listen to the teacher.... honest, kind and a little bit naughty! I almost stole the name for myself!

I think Jasper is much nicer and sounds great with Sebastian.

I do love Rubus too, but I just don't think it goes as well!

Not much help but I think they both go well with Sebastian.
I prefer Jasper though :)
Maybe post a pic and we can see what he 'looks' like!

Either are good names but I prefer Jasper. Never thought of it as a 'dog name'?

Love Sebastian. Love Jasper. And they go very well together.

Don’t like Rufus at all.

Is it wrong to say he looks like a Monty? 😊

He’s so cute 😍

Sebastian and Monty? If not Jasper gets my vote 👍🏻

Awww he is such a Rufus, definitely not a Jasper. Jaspers are harsh and pointy and Rufus' are soft and gentle in my mind haha

Grin was just going to say he's definitely a Jasper or even a Benjamin.

He's beautiful OP.

Jasper is a harsh and pointy name, yes. He looks like a cute little Rufus!

The Jaspers I know are cool and goodlooking.
