names for twin boys?

Due twins in the winter (eek!)
Already have girls names we love picked out but really stuck for boys names! We cant really have a name ending in a "n" or "k" sound as our surname begins with k and ends in "on" so these names sound ridiculous imo.

Want something that wont date and not too matchy. James, Henry, Matthew, Thomas were all my suggestions and hubby hates them all! We are both completely void of inspiration!

Bugger, came on to say James and Matthew!! Does this mean he prefers non trad names?

purplestrawberry2 · 16/07/2018 22:06

The only boys name he can tell me he has ever liked was Logan but he also says that would sound ridiculous with the surname!

Daniel and Edward

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 16/07/2018 22:16

I'm sorry, I can only think of facetious names:

Romulus and Remus
Castor and Pollox

Sorry. Blush

I'd probably just go for 2 boys' names I really liked, they don't have to "go".

Samuel - I know several pairs of twin of all ages where one half is Samuel.

Samuel
Daniel
William
Jacob
Alexander
Max
Benjamin
Alastair

MinaPaws · 16/07/2018 22:23

If he likes Logan, will he like other Scottish names?

Alistair and Hamish
Callum and Rory
Angus and Cameron

Classic names that don't date:

Charles and George
Edward and Daniel
Benjamin and Sebastian

Royallypissedoff1 · 16/07/2018 23:29

Our of interest what girls names have you picked?

Happyandshiney · 17/07/2018 03:46

How about Philip and Alexander?

I have twins, it’s hard work in the early days but awesome.

You need to find names that you can shout clearly across a park (trust me on this) without them getting smooshed together. (Eg something like Ben and James might end up as “Benji”)

You don’t want names that rhyme, alliterate, are a “set” or are difficult to say together.

So for example Philip and William would end up Phil and Will which obviously doesn’t work.

Logan and Lawson or Joseph and Jacob above alliterate - it makes it difficult for other people to remember which child is which. You don’t want them to be know as “the twins”. Individual identity is important for multiples.

This (I also have twins). And names that are chosen to “go together” won’t help with that sense of individuality.

I would also go for short names for ease of yelling across the park. You will be asked their names absolutely every time you leave the house with their names constantly commented on. Short names are also good for this.

I think your partner needs to step up. He can’t throw out one unsuitable name and complain about your suggestions. Make him provide a list of 10 or 20 names.

purplestrawberry2 · 17/07/2018 04:56

thanks for all the advice!

Didnt want to post my surname because it is very rare so very recognisable! Hubby is full of suggestions for girls names just not boys names. Girls names we both love would be Cara and Lucy ( both have family roots too) so I dont care if other people hate them, or if they are not "twinny enough" Grin

Alistair and Gregory
Nathaniel and Lewis
Oscar and Peter
Leo and Elliott
Anthony and George

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 17/07/2018 05:19

Cara and Lucy are lovely!

Happyandshiney · 17/07/2018 06:20

Cara and Lucy are lovely (and follow all my “rules” beautifully Grin )

Grin Iwasjustabout Many years ago I read a twin baby book that said that the difference between a singleton Mum and a twin Mum in the park is that the Singleton Mum gracefully lopes after her toddler with a tinkly little laugh while the twin Mum desperately screams the name of one escaping child while running full tilt in the opposite direction to capture the other.

Don’t panic Purple you’ve still got plenty of time. I’m sure you’ll come up with something fantastic.

Pudding01 · 17/07/2018 06:57

Cara and Lucy are beautiful 🙂 I'm not a fan of 'matching' twin names.

Logan & Marcus
Adam & George
Alex & Daniel
Max & Toby
