Fergus if you've got no Scottish connection

Hello
I'm looking for opinions on using Fergus as a boys name if you've got no connection whatsoever with Scotland. Does it matter, to me no, but would lots of people question why we chose that name?
It's a favourite of both mine and DH. I love names that are unusual but not weird or wacky and straightforward to spell and pronounce. I also love the meaning of this name :-)

It’s fine.

Fergus is a great name and I don't think it matters if you are scottish or not. It's not overly Scottish sounding so doubt too many people would make that initial connection. Go for it if you and your DH both love it

I only know one Fergus and he's Irish.
I like it.

Thanks so much for your replies. Fergus will definitely be the name if our next baby is a boy. I have absolutely no idea what I would like for another girl as I already used my favourite and best girls name for our daughter!

Definitely fine, and very cool name.
