Hello, I've name changed for this as with my previous posting history it is probably quite outing!

I'm due DD2 in November - and we really have no idea what to call her. I have quite a list of requirements! DD1 is called Edith so it needs to go with that. I definitely don't want a name within the top 50, and preferably not the top 100 but could compromise on that if I love it. I want a name that can be shortened, but the given name would be the full version. Also needs to please my incredibly fussy DH who has so far offered no suggestions!

Names that I like that have been vetoed for one reason or another:
Francesca
Violet (still a favourite and trying to convince DH)
Matilda
Beatrice

Thank you!

Thanks for all the suggestions. DH is not budging on Violet but I'm hoping I might be able to have it as a middle name.

From the names suggested I like Dorothy, Constance, Tabitha, Agnes and Emmeline. I also like Audrey but struggling to think what it would be shortened to? Any other suggestions along these lines?

I think Violet and Beatrice go best with Edith as they’re all classic Edwardian names. I also really like Nancy.

If DH doesn’t budge on Violet you don’t have to budge either.

MadMaryBoddington · 23/07/2018 15:52

I have an Audrey. I sometimes call her Aud. why do you need to shorten it though?

MadMaryBoddington · 23/07/2018 15:54

How about
Sybil
Dinah
Marjolaine

whatdoicallmybaby · 23/07/2018 15:54

I do like Beatrice but just wondered if it is a bit 'posh' (we're definitely not). He seemed more onboard with Beatrice than all the others. The problem is he says no to all my suggestions, but doesn't give any back. The only name he has suggested is Alex (don't hate it but don't love it) and Zoya Hmm
I did very much get my own way last time, so I'm trying to compromise a bit more this time!

whatdoicallmybaby · 23/07/2018 20:15

We don't need to shorten it madmaryboddington I just really like names that can be shortened into a nickname.

Edith and Blythe.

TatianaLarina · 23/07/2018 22:22

In the 80s the only Olivias I knew where upper middle class women of my mother’s generation.

Look at it now. No class owns a name.
