Baby two due soon and DS is Fraser. Struggle with girls names. Can’t decide between hazel or Stella. Hubby isn’t too constructive. Any opinions??

Hazel, really don't like Stella, it just seems frumpy. Estelle or Estella are nicer imo but really just go with your heart - it's not our opinions that matter!

Hazel.

I really like Stella as a name but I think it would be a pain being a teenager or twentysomething called Stella when most people's first association for the name is a very well known lager. Imagine the one liners you'd have to deal with from annoying lads. (I like the name because I knew a Stella who was lovely, and that was before the lager had become the big deal it is now so I associate it with her more than with drink. Of course, by the 2030s, Stella Artois may be as obscure as Skol is now, but can't be sure.)

Estelle nn Stella
Hazel
Stella as a name on its own

StrawberryCat · 08/07/2018 23:19

Both are lovely names. Hazel is beautiful but more popular. Stella is very pretty and i don't associate it with the beer at all.

But.... i agree that Fraser and Hazel pretty much rhyme, which for me would put me off!

Other ideas....

Estella
Esther
Emery
Thea
Ruby
Verity

Hazel is my mum's name. I like it, it is classic, one of those names that has been brought back. Might be a bit of a tongue twister screaming out Hazel and Fraser together though.

Stella was my dog's name. I know a few pups named Stella, so sorry, for me it will always be for a pet not a child!

banannabreadforme · 08/07/2018 23:55

Hazel. Stella is a drink

TatianaLarina · 09/07/2018 00:04

Stella. Hazel is a stripper and it rhymes too much with Fraser.

justforareply · 09/07/2018 00:29

Stella
Hazel sounds a bit soppy and I like sharper names

Coey2016 · 09/07/2018 06:46

Stella

Susannach · 09/07/2018 06:55

Like both, prefer Hazel but Stella works better with Fraser.

How about:

Nina
Vita
Violet
Greta
Frida
Lydia
Willa
Sylvie
Dinah
Simone

daisypond · 09/07/2018 18:35

Stella by miles. Hazel is dated and dull.

MikeUniformMike · 09/07/2018 19:44

Stella.

userabcname · 09/07/2018 19:47

Stella. I think it's classic and under-used.

Frosty66612 · 09/07/2018 19:48

Hazel is lovely.
Really don’t like stella

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/07/2018 19:49

Stella is a fabulous name !

Pemba · 09/07/2018 20:12

Stella is a gorgeous name with a lovely meaning. Ignore people who are incapable of making any other association than with a beer.

I should like Hazel, it has a nice sound, but somehow has a bit of a frumpy middle aged vibe.

DramaAlpaca · 09/07/2018 20:14

I like both, but would choose Stella as Hazel sounds too similar to Fraser.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 09/07/2018 20:16

Estelle, with Stella for short?

AuntieStella · 09/07/2018 20:16

I chose my username because I like lager.

Just because people shouidn't make an association doesn't mean they won't

Icklepup · 09/07/2018 20:17

Hazel

LascellesMoustache · 09/07/2018 20:26

Got to be Stella, would you have the official name as Estelle or Estella or just go for Stella? All versions sound lovely to me. The beer thing I think you should disregard as people will associate the name with your daughter not the beer once they know her name, and it has such a lovely meaning.

Hazel is also nice but think its becoming quite popular in some areas, and not quite as pretty as Stella I think.

Good luck with choosing

Queenofthedrivensnow · 09/07/2018 21:44

Both are fabulous under used strong names

LostwithSawyer · 09/07/2018 21:46

Stella by a mile.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 09/07/2018 21:47

Stella

Theycouldhavechoseneve · 09/07/2018 21:50

Stella is derived from star, very beautiful name. I love Estelle too
