What are your thoughts on Cornelia and Cornelius? Not for siblings obviously

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

yes to Cornelia, which sounds quite Dutch Golden Age to me. No to Cornelius, which just makes me think of Babar.

I really don’t like Cornelia.
I think Cornelius is a fab name but am put off by my old neighbor who used Corny as the nickname for her husband.

Discotits · 08/07/2018 08:20

I like Cornelia. She could be Connie for short.

auntyflonono · 08/07/2018 08:38

Also like Tiberious

daisypond · 08/07/2018 10:26

Yes, like them both. Very Roman/Dutch associations to me.

badtime · 09/07/2018 13:27

I used to work with someone called Cornelia. Everyone called her Cornflake.

MariaMadita · 09/07/2018 13:35

Bad

That's so cute :)

I know a Cornelia called Nell/Nellie.

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 09/07/2018 14:12

What about Corn? Then they could have their own plasters!
Grin

Smushrooms · 09/07/2018 20:50

They're both horrid.

Lineeye · 09/07/2018 20:55

You could shorten Cornelia to the nickname Cora. My grandfather was a Cornelius and known as Con/ Connie. I’m not really a fan of the male version but would use Cornelia.

Talith · 09/07/2018 20:56

Both sound like fungal infections. Not a fan!

HeyDolly · 09/07/2018 21:37

A bit pretentious, especially Cornelius.
