Can I use Dorothy & Theodore?

My son's middle name is Theodore. I really want to use Dorothy (for my daughter's middle name) but someone said "you can't do that, they're the same name" Confused help!

I know someone with an Owen and a Noah and they feel anagrammy!
But middle names are fine 🤷🏼‍♀️

Joeybee · 26/06/2018 21:39

I think it is completely fine to use those names, especially as middle names. Most people wouldn't make that connection anyway. Good name choices!

Lightbee · 26/06/2018 21:39

I wouldn’t have known that. If it’s a middle name isn’t it quite a nice link between the two of them?

KirstenRaymonde · 26/06/2018 21:40

It’s fine, they’re middle names, they’ll never been said together

DramaAlpaca · 26/06/2018 21:40

Perfectly fine for middle names.

JessambardKingdomBrunel · 26/06/2018 21:57

Fine for middle names.

Ikeameatballs · 26/06/2018 21:58

Fine for middle names, not for first.

Discotits · 26/06/2018 22:00

Fine

Jj2431 · 26/06/2018 22:15

It's fine

Sophronia · 27/06/2018 02:15

Fine for middle names

TroubledLichen · 27/06/2018 02:18

Totally fine for middle names!

Sprinklesplease · 27/06/2018 02:27

Dorothy & Theodore sounds like a lovely upmarket shop that sells beautiful handmade clothing for little ones, or perhaps gorgeous tableware!

Nothing wrong with those names together, first or second or any combination. They are lovely.

moredoll · 27/06/2018 02:38

Fine, even for first names. Although tbh I'm not crazy about Dorothy.

timeisnotaline · 27/06/2018 02:56

Absolutely fine. Now I want to start a little business called Dorothy and Theodore :)

GinIsIn · 27/06/2018 04:41

Well they are basically the same name but as middle names it’s fine! I know someone who has a Daisy and a Marguerite Hmm

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 27/06/2018 08:12

Absolutely fine and I love both names! I knew a Jane Sian... her parents didn't realise it's the same name twice.

averythinline · 27/06/2018 08:17

great names, think would make good first names too....i think nice to have same meaning and love dot/dottie as nn

HeyDolly · 27/06/2018 08:22

It’s fine imo

MikeUniformMike · 27/06/2018 14:20

I like Dorothy, Dot and Dotty/Dottie but I really don't like Dorothea, Theodore and Theadora.

Lycanthropology · 28/06/2018 00:20

I think it's lovely that they'll have matching middle names!

Plus no one will notice or care.

lottiegarbanzo · 28/06/2018 00:23

Well, they are the same but for a middle name, who cares?

Teggun · 28/06/2018 00:24

When I read the thread title I immediately thought of a CBeebies card I saw years ago for siblings Dolly and Teddy ....

TheOriginalEmu · 28/06/2018 00:25

I know twin sisters called Katy and Kathy, and I know another set of sisters called Cathryn and Katie. So I think your Theodore and Dorothy as middle names is totally fine!
