I know 2 Suzans, both say it as Suzanne. I also know a Susanne but she's Swedish.

I know a Debbie who has decided she is now Debi 😖

Please tell me she does a circle for the dot on the 'i'.

A relative decided they wanted to be known by a nickname instead of their name. Think Cazza instead of Carol. They'd pull me up on it if I wrote their name instead of their chosen 'fun' nickname. Thing is, they weren't 14, this person had been happy with their name and was in their forties when they decided to get some street cred. I'd never known anyone to call them that. It was a little bit pathetic.

I don't think Debi is too bad - isn't Debbie just short for Deborah. Abi for Abigail is OK. Is Debra ok? Nikki, Vikki, Becci? Is Linzi any worse than Linsey? Why do I like Linda but not Lynda?

trueblueari · 21/06/2018 14:56

Polkerris - Kallumb reminded me of an actual name I came across once - Calumn

PolkerrisBeach · 21/06/2018 15:01

Poor Callumn.

What about

Cahllumn
Kahl-omb

My cousin had a baby girl and named her Kayla. My grandmother had never heard of the name so called my aunt to check the spelling. My aunt thought it was spelled Kla!! She's never lived it down.

So in honour of the story mine is K-la Smile

itssquidstella · 21/06/2018 19:16

I have genuinely met an American Cydne (Sydney).
