Isn't this a cracking list of names? It's someone who works in a restaurant kitchen in Cape Town congratulating their colleagues on a great night's service.

Obvious is a bit different but having read that Aaron Paul ( Jesse from Breaking Bad ) had called his DD Story Annabel it's not that strange!

There’s an Archers (Radio 4 Soap) character called Sipho. Lives in SA.

I went to SA on safari recently and the names of the safari guides were beautiful

Delicious, Glorious, Gracious etc etc - fantastic

villainousbroodmare · 18/06/2018 21:16

I wonder ShirleyPhallus if those guides were Zimbabwean as virtue/ adjective names are much more common among Zimbabweans than South Africans. Our Zimbabwean cleaning lady is called Beauty and her husband is Courage; their toddler son is Prosper.

Delicious?
Glorious is a great name imo.

ScattyCharly · 18/06/2018 21:19

It sounds a pretty cool mix of names, apart from Obvious which is Confused

ShirleyPhallus · 18/06/2018 21:19

Yes - it was Namibian border and we spent some days in Namibia too

The guides said they have a name given at birth, then a nickname which is added as a formal first name and added to all ID etc. An idea which I absolutely love!

Story isn't actually hugely unusual. Not common but I know of about 4 people called Story. A few kids and a few adults both male and female.

I know a chap called Wealth. His parents are from Zimbabwe
