What do you think for a boy?

It is my favourite and DP is half on board, he had wanted something to reflect Irish heritage but the baby will be a Londoner and I don't think I want a real Irish name like Oisín etc

Any views appreciated thanks.

The Irish Francis I know goes by his middle name ..... as his dad is also a Francis.

Not that that helps, sorry!

MikeUniformMike · 19/06/2018 18:39

I like it.

dinosaurkisses · 19/06/2018 23:19

I love it but it's my ex's name so DH has understandably vetoed it Grin

Picknickers · 19/06/2018 23:30

It was my mum's maiden name so a strong contender if this one had been a bit. I really love it...strong and gentle at the same time.

Picknickers · 19/06/2018 23:31

God a boy not a bit!!!!

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 19/06/2018 23:34

Yes, it's a great name.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 20/06/2018 09:36

Fabulous name, love it.

BeyondSceptical · 20/06/2018 09:41

Middle name passed down through four generations here (changing from ces to cis as required) so it's a yes from me Grin

It's growing on me, but I prefer Frank.

UrbaneSprawl · 20/06/2018 10:54

I have a DS called Francis. Chose it partly because it was my late father’s confirmation name (he was raised Catholic, though I wasn’t).

Midwife said “ooh, we haven’t had a Francis for years,” and I’ve yet to come across another Francis anywhere near his age.

He’s occasionally called Frank by his friends, but at home we almost always calll him ‘Paco’, which is a Spanish shortening of Francis/Francisco, something to do with St Francis of Assisi apparently.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 20/06/2018 10:56

Aw, Paco is lovely 🙂

UrbaneSprawl · 20/06/2018 12:59

There’s the added bonus that you can play at bedtime.

Miladamermalada · 20/06/2018 13:40

No. Love Frances for a girl but not for a boy.

daisypond · 20/06/2018 13:44

I'd like to like Francis, but I don't. I find it a bit wet, though Frank is nice. I think it's the "siss" sound at the end that I don't like. l love Frances for a girl, though.

newlywedmum · 20/06/2018 14:56

Reminds me of Angela's Ashes! Great compromise if you want an Irish name that's accessible. Frank and Frankie are great nns. It's my brother's MN too after his Irish grandfather. Great choice!

Jj2431 · 20/06/2018 16:02

Love it. It's on my list.

LunaTrap · 20/06/2018 16:03

I love it. It would have been my DC2's name if she had been a boy!
