Would Lockie as a girls name be too unusual? We are really struggling with girls name and this is the only one I love but according to some research I've done it hasn't been used as a girls name since 1950!

My son has an unusual but old fashioned name and I want something along those same lines but don't want to set up my potential girl for a life of name misery!

It’s really not nice as a girls name.

trinitybleu · 14/06/2018 21:17

I know a child called Loki...

How about Laurie?

whoknowswhynow · 14/06/2018 21:18

@trinitybleu Laurie is nice, I hadn't thought of that!

whoknowswhynow If you use it, I get to be unGodly Mother, right?

gracielacey · 14/06/2018 21:43

Instantly thought Lockie, short for Lachlan, boys' name.

Plus it just sounds like Lucky in a northern accent.

Awful name for a girl (and boy too tbh).

Just because you don't like normal names doesn't give you the right to saddle your potential daughter with such a ridiculous name.

gracielacey · 14/06/2018 21:44

Love Laurie though, like Laurie Hernandez, the Olympic gymnast.

MikeUniformMike · 14/06/2018 21:45

How about Lori?

Sleephead1 · 14/06/2018 21:49

there is a person on the only way is essex he's called lockie it's because his surname is lock that's just what it reminded me of straight away and I don't watch the only way is essex but I've heard of him

RedDwarves · 14/06/2018 22:49

Lockie is every second boy born between 1992 and 1996 in Australia. Formally Lachlan, but always Lockie.

It's awful for a boy, but dire for a girl.

Bubblesoup · 14/06/2018 23:01

My (male) neighbour is Lachie (pn Lockie) as his first name is Lachlan. Awful for a girl imo, sorry!

Laurie/Lori is lovely!

I knew a girl called Darcy which is beautiful imo.

Other ideas -
Harper
Jordan
Cameron
Bodhi
Luna
Keeley
Corrin (spelling?)

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 14/06/2018 23:05

I know of two, one boy (Lachlan), one girl. Not sure how the girl spells her name, but it's not short for anything.

HarryLovesDraco · 14/06/2018 23:08

Where did lockie come from?? It's such a randomly weird thing to want to call a baby girl.

twinkletwinklelittlerainbow · 14/06/2018 23:25

I like it op. I love unusual, our list was

Milo

Bubblesoup · 15/06/2018 03:31

Or Piper?

coolwalking · 15/06/2018 06:35

Never heard of Lockie. It's Lachie

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/06/2018 06:42

I have a friend everyone calls Lockie, cannot remember how on earth she got to be called that as her real name is Sarah.

It’s the most clumsy and clunky and unattractive name imo, but at least for her she has an actual nice name she can use!

Don’t use it, it’s awful. Laurie is ok.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 15/06/2018 09:29

Lockie is dreadful! Don't do it.
Surely you can find another name out of all the millions of names available?

Lauren
Leonora
Lucinda
Cordelia
Annabel
Aurora nn Rory

HJL2506 · 15/06/2018 18:17

Lottie is similar sounding to Lovkie?

Locked reminds me of that bloke from the Only away is Essex.

I love Sidney too for a boy.

HJL2506 · 15/06/2018 18:18

Lockie^

WrideD · 15/06/2018 18:22

Lockie from TOWIE, who's a total moron, that's tarnished the name for me too.

mothertobe789 · 16/06/2018 13:07

Lori, lottie??
I dont think lockie is awful, but just sounds more like a nn x
