One. Short for Eleanor, aged 5.

I know a Fenella, she is insipid. She is called Nelly. I don't think I'd want to be called Nell. It's like Meg. Nah.

Don't know any young (or living) people with the name. Both were Ellen.

There was a big trend few years back of ellie/bella/ella sounding names...so I ashume this is just a natural progression from that.

2 - one is the wife of a colleague (full name Helen) and one is the daughter of another colleague, Nell is her full name.

To me it’s the perfect name because it can’t be abbreviated.

There were loads of Nell's in our family. All Helen's. All now dearly departed. Know no young Nell's but I love it as a name.

I don't have my glasses on and thought it said Neil. I thought there was going to be a resurgence of little Neils running about
