There are 2 boys names I'd love to use in the future, and I'm curious what you think of them and which one (if any) you prefer.

The names are Murdo and Thatcher.

I live in Scotland, if it makes any difference!

Im English but Thatcher reminds me of Margaret Thatcher and Murdo sounds like Murder.
It might sound different to a Scot though maybe?

SuperSharpShooter82 · 11/06/2018 19:29

Same as above poster.

Thatcher is Maggie Maggie Milk Snatcher.

Murdo just sounds like murder.

Belindabauer · 11/06/2018 19:51

I agree with the previous posters.

sexnotgender · 11/06/2018 19:53

As a Scot I like Murdo, not such a fan of thatcher.

What about Munro rather than Murdo?

savagehk · 11/06/2018 19:56

Exactly the same thoughts as first reply above

Pemba · 11/06/2018 20:06

I'm sorry, they're both terrible.

Creatureofthenight · 11/06/2018 20:58

Thatcher still a bit divisive for the UK I think!

Octopeppa · 11/06/2018 20:59
Confused
TatianaLarina · 11/06/2018 21:52

Murder and Maggie Thatcher are not things I would ever want to evoke.

Sholto?
Milto?

Thaddeus?

EmmaC78 · 11/06/2018 21:53

Murdo is a lovely name. I live in Scotland and wouldn't think twice at the name Murdo.

KellyBailey · 11/06/2018 21:53

Murdo is fine, Thatcher not so much, please don't do that to your child.

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 11/06/2018 21:53

Agree with PP. Thatcher has very negative connotations for me because of Maggie.

Murdo sounds like he should be the villain in a superhero film. Too similar sounding to murder.

user1498549192 · 11/06/2018 22:05

Murdo is lovely. Thatcher just makes me think instantly of Margaret... Not a good thing.

Petalflowers · 11/06/2018 22:07

Murdo - lovely.

Sorry, another no for Thatcher.

RedDwarves · 11/06/2018 23:02

Murder and Margaret Thatcher.

I'm Australian and would still immediately make the Margaret Thatcher connection.

RedDwarves · 11/06/2018 23:02

Should say though, the only other association I have with Murdo is a beagle I came across in a pub in Pitlochry. So that's not so negative. Grin

MollyHuaCha · 11/06/2018 23:04

I'm not keen on these names (sorry).

seeingdots · 11/06/2018 23:11

Murdo after Murdo Fraser? My immediate thought seeing those two together was that you're going for a Tory name. If so for the love of god not Thatcher in Scotland! A Cameron could fly under the radar easily. Murdo's not too bad.

seeingdots · 11/06/2018 23:12

Ah I've just seen your username. That'll be a yes then!

mammmamia · 11/06/2018 23:14

Wind up thread 😵

Elphabaisnotwicked · 11/06/2018 23:15

Murtagh instead? Like in Outlander.
