I’d choose Ailish or Darragh but also love Morven and Cormac

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 08/06/2018 23:25

Morven is very pretty. I'm not mad keen on Imogen per se but I think it goes well with Saoirse, despite or perhaps because of the very different style. How about Meriel?

I like Fergus a lot. I also like Seamus, but it's perhaps a bit matchy with Saoirse.

LOVE Rosaleen! And Fergus for a boy.

loveshinealight · 09/06/2018 16:05

Cormac definitely added to the list. I think I've settled Morven for a girl. Saoirse and Morven go well together I think. Thank you everyone!

A lot of the namea in your list sound quite old fashioned in Ireland but possibly are in vogue where you are...

Realtín (rail-teen, little star)
Seodín (show-deen, little gem)
Roise (row-sha, not sure of the meaning!)

loveshinealight · 10/06/2018 17:15

Can't settle on a spelling for Conal. Is it Conal (as I first thought), Connal or Conall? 🤨

The one that I know spells his name Conall. Have seen it spelt Conal to though. Prefer it spelt Conall. It’s not as good as Cormac though Wink

Scottishgirl85 · 11/06/2018 03:11

I'm wondering if I know you 😋

Morven is lovely, it was second on our list but decided against it due to it not working as well in English accent where we live. So please use it since I couldn't! Favourite Scottish boys name is Ruaridh.

mathanxiety · 11/06/2018 06:58

One N, two Ls for Conall I think, if you want a con-ull pronunciation.

(Roise is Rose).

caithuait · 11/06/2018 14:58

Banbha for a girl

mathanxiety · 14/06/2018 22:31

A friend of mine who went to an Irish school had classmates Gormlaith and Banbha, who were known as Gormless and Miss Piggy.

If you're looking for an Irish girls name to match I just love Ciara!

loveshinealight · 17/06/2018 19:01

@mathanxiety That's just cruel and unnecessary.

But also quite witty. I gathered the girls in question took it in the fun loving spirit which was intended.

MariaMadita · 18/06/2018 19:00

Morven is lovely. I also like Morag and Ailsa, btw.

Seamus and Callum are great.

Do you like Cormag (with a g instead of a 2nd c)?

MariaMadita · 18/06/2018 19:01

Cormac definitely added to the list

Cormac is great imo.
