We are expecting our rainbow baby and it’s a boy! If he had been a girl he would have been Iris meaning ‘rainbow’
Does anyone know a boys name that has a similar meaning or is well fitting for a baby after a loss? Either for a first or a middle name. Thank you-Jane.

Our rainbow boy is called Isaac Rohan. It literally means Isaac - he who laughs. Rohan - red haired boy.

Tate - happy and joyful is also lovely.

Davis/Davis - means beloved.

This thread is lovely 🌈 ( apart from the minor skirmish upstream. Well said Cosmoa)
Wishing you loads of love and luck for a happy future whatever name you choose OP.

I would go for Benedict Theodore - blessed gift from God - and if Theodore is his second name, it wouldn’t be an issue that your friend’s son is Theodore.

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

@boatass - no, it is not against guidelines to comment on names - but you could have tried to be a little less rude and offensive. Would you be that unpleasant to someone face to face?

CatrionaNess · 03/06/2018 15:33

Orion means rising in the sky.

AlReef · 03/06/2018 17:30

skaggy kid from Boatass
You say you're a social worker in a previous post - really? That's worrying. You're disgusting.

Thank you for so many beautiful suggestions and kind words.
I think we are going to go for Rowan Enfys
Rowan-Rowan trees are a symbol for protection, this is why you often see them in churchyards. It also means ‘red haired’ and my grandad who has also passed always wanted a red haired grandson.
Enfys meaning rainbow-not quite brave enough to use as a first name but think it works as a middle name.

@JaneDoDo gorgeous name!! Congratulations again Grin Flowers

glitterbiscuits · 04/06/2018 11:57

Enfys is traditionally a Welsh girls name. Just in case you wanted a rethink.

glitterbiscuits · 04/06/2018 12:02

And a female character in the new Star Wars film is called Enfys Nest.

JaneDoDo · 04/06/2018 12:05

Thank you.
I’ve seen it listed as unisex plus rainbow is also a noun so as far as I see it it can be used for either. Also although husband is part welsh we don’t live in Wales so many probably won’t associate it with anything. Thank you for letting me know though.

Love Rowan. Yes, I'm in Wales and it's a girl's name. Never, ever seen it for a boy before - perhaps people won't notice if you're not actually in Wales though.
Congratulations :)

LastNightsMakeUp · 04/06/2018 12:40

I love Rowan 😊 and the mn goes perfectly. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy x

DeadButDelicious · 05/06/2018 21:25

Rowan Enfys. Lovely. Absolutely lovely.

Rowan was on my list for a girl and Enfys for a boy. I think they are lovely names that work for either sex. Good choice!

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 06/06/2018 09:23

Lovely choice OP.

TuTru · 06/06/2018 09:24

I’d call him Rainbow

sundowners · 06/06/2018 14:33

Rex- king- exactly what this little boy will be to you guys!

Isadora2007 · 06/06/2018 21:52

I can’t believe no one suggested Noah!!!
🌈
Rowan is lovely although I didn’t know it was also a boys name as the only ones I’ve known have been girls. In this day and age I’m sure that’s not really an issue anyway.
Congratulations
