Hello...first post and first baby and today we discovered we're going to have a girl. We're very excited but arguing already about names. He likes short and snappy and I like old and quirky. So far we've not found any common ground. Can you please help?

Polly was on my list when I was pregnant 13 years ago! Others on the list were Nancy, Clara, Mary, Thea, Harriet and Beatrix.

If I ever have another girl I love the names Matilda, Tabitha and Violet

Eliza, Georgiana (nn Gigi) or Vivienne (nn V) would be lovely, slightly vintage but not 'granny-esque'. The perfect in between of your preferences imo. :)

Thanks for the suggestions. My mum in law is Annie so that's out! We're agreeing on nothing. Still, plenty of time to fight it out!

Nelly?
Eleanore?

(So you can use Nel)

Or Belle? Sounds similar
Isobel nn Belle or just Belle alone.

If you like Polly maybe Molly, Penny? (Penelope nn) Poppy, Pippa (would that be Philippa?)

Wow some great ideas! Love lots of these hate a few Wink but not agreeing with his lordship. He's sulking because I have absolutely vetoed Nell and Jean. Men!

Could you go for Helen, Eleanor or Penelope, with NN Nell? Penny is nice too, as a diminutive
