Really want a classic boys name. Which of the two do you prefer?

I'm not keen on the potential Willy teasing with William, so I'd choose Harry.

MollyHuaCha · 30/05/2018 11:42

William

BasicBetty · 30/05/2018 12:15

Both fab. If I had to pick, I'd choose Harry.

AJPTaylor · 30/05/2018 12:19

Dd1 23 has eleventy billion friends and colleagues called Will. Is it still as popular?

brizzledrizzle · 30/05/2018 12:21

William because I know a Harry who is a) a bit daft in not a nice way (he's in his 20s) and his mates all call him Hazza.

QueenofSerene · 30/05/2018 12:24

I love both, Henry and William are both family names for me, however I 'can't' use Henry because of drama llama with my brothers ex.. and I ended up using William as one of my sons middle names.. my brother's middle name is William and our aunt always used to call him 'Wills' (I think it was her passive aggressive way of showing she disproved of his first name being unisex though..)

soapboxmum · 30/05/2018 12:32

Never known a William teased as Willy. Is it a thing?

foxtiger · 30/05/2018 14:48

I have a Harry but I love William too (obviously couldn't use both!) I think right now I'd probably go for William as there aren't as many of them.

lucieloos · 30/05/2018 14:49

I've never know a William being teased as Willy either?

Neither have I. I did use to know a boy who was known as Billy, but decided to switch to his full name of William because people kept quoting that silly rhyme "My friend Billy had a ten-foot willy" at him. If anything, they seemed to make the willy association with Billy more than with William!

Cosmoa · 30/05/2018 15:54

Which Prince do you like more 😂

jamsyoink · 30/05/2018 22:07

Harry

AlliKaneErikson · 01/06/2018 18:35

Harry

FoxgloveStar · 17/06/2018 10:28

I like both so we obviously have the same taste. We have a William who quickly became Billy when he was born. Have yet to meet another Bill/Billy but many many baby Harrys.

Oysterbabe · 18/06/2018 05:25

William for me, pronounced Will-e-um. I really dislike the will-yum pronunciation so would choose Harry if people tend to say will-yum in your area.

Dad2Be2018 · 18/06/2018 09:03

I'd say be original, Henry, Harry are so boring, I being a man of faith will name my child something with meaning, I was born with the name Joshua

17caterpillars1mouse · 18/06/2018 09:23

I prefer William

lol dad2be I don't really mind if it's classed as a white name or boring. I don't think Joshua is a lot better in my opinion but thanks for your thoughts anyway!

Will-I-Am seems to wear it ok.

paddlingwhenIshouldbeworking · 18/06/2018 09:47

William / Will

BendydickCuminsnatch · 18/06/2018 09:47

Really like William! Harry and Henry are super popular but I do like both too.

MariaMadita · 18/06/2018 12:08

Henry nn Harry or William :)

lucieloos · 18/06/2018 12:21

Yes I like the nickname Will for William. I think if we went for Harry it would probably be spelt Harri which is the Welsh way so don't know if that changes opinions? I know in England some would assume it's a girls name and short for Harriet? Not too worried about that though as quite common in Wales.

This thread caught my attention as if my DC is a boy I will most likely name him Harry William (last name), I have a lot of Williams in my family hence the middle name choice but I think either name is lovely Smile
