I really like this name and it’s the only name that both DH and I can agree on... Is it a bit chavvy though?

It is a bit but I don't particularly mind it and I'm a proper name snob. As long as your last name isn't Quinn. Grin

mistermagpie · 26/05/2018 19:55

I know a little Harley and was surprised when he was named that because his mum is really quite classy. Take from that what you will. Both my kids have 'posh' names though and you get judged for that just the same, so choose the name you love the best (whilst also considering that the baby will be lumbered with it forever).

BonnieF · 26/05/2018 19:55

I’m afraid so. How about Henry, Hugo or even Harvey?

daisypond · 26/05/2018 20:05

I'm assuming it's for a boy. I think Harvey is a little better, but there are much worse names out there.

fleshmarketclose · 26/05/2018 20:16

I think Harvey, Henry, Hadley are much better. I know three Harleys they are, without exception, badly behaved brats tbh so probably the reason I don't like it.

lollypop13 · 26/05/2018 20:16

It is, I'm afraid. I've come across a few and they are a bit lively.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 26/05/2018 20:21

Wonder if we know the same one @mistermagpie

FASH84 · 26/05/2018 20:32

I know two dogs and a cat called Harley, the cat because it has harlequin markings, but I don't think you would have asked this question of you knew it definitely wasn't...

Gertrudethecow · 26/05/2018 20:42

Hmmm thanks everyone.
Harvey is also in the running although DH says it reminds him of Weinstein....
I like Hugo though, so that’s another one to discuss.
We literally don’t have any names that we both like.

I much prefer those other H names you have on your list. I know two Harley girls who are young adults and I think it's a bit dated

Sophronia · 26/05/2018 21:25

It is, sorry. Hugo is nice.

Cosmoa · 27/05/2018 06:28

Not at all!! The Harley's I know are anything but 'chavvy'

Cosmoa · 27/05/2018 06:29

@Gertrudethecow my advice to you would be that if you have found a name you both like... DON'T get the mumsnet opinion.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 27/05/2018 06:31

Yes it is.

Charlie?

I didn't think it was but I've always seen it as a girls name.

bookmum08 · 27/05/2018 08:37

I used know a Harley. I remember him as a fairly sweet little boy. He will be about 25 by now though. I wonder where he is now......

BetterEatCheese · 27/05/2018 08:51

My old boss has a son called Harley who he named after his favourite bikes. That's the only issue I can see. Not chavvy though

Danglingmod · 27/05/2018 08:53

I know three Harleys - all girls...

BossWitch · 27/05/2018 08:55

Hugo is a brilliant name!

MrsMarigold · 27/05/2018 08:58

Dreadful

Polyannah · 27/05/2018 09:01

Yes. And I live on a council estate Wink

MollyHuaCha · 27/05/2018 09:20

If it's any consolation, I think it's a very nice name for a dog.

Jj2431 · 27/05/2018 10:28

I don't like it for a boy but do for a girl

Gertrudethecow · 27/05/2018 21:42

@MollyHuaCha since finding out this baby is a boy we’ve realised that we like a lot of dog names. OHs favourite is Monty but all I can picture is my friends Labrador! I heard a little boy being called Ralph today but Ralph reminds be of a Bearded Collie I used to walk my dogs with! 🙄
Hugo has been poo-pooed by DH.
At this rate he will be nameless forever!
