40+1 Still no girl's name

I suppose we'll find out soon enough whether we have a girl or boy, and I guess at this point, there's some weight in just waiting to see if we have a girl and what she looks like. But, what if we still can't decide? Has anyone else been in this situation before? How did you come up with a name in the end? DH and I still have very different ideas.
I guess I'm not really after name suggestions (we've been through the books/websites/family suggestions), how do you come to a compromise that you're both happy with? How do you reach an agreement with two very stubborn people who love their own name ideas?
I don't want to pull the ol' "well I carried and gave birth to this child" card; this baby is DH's too.

If this baby is a boy, all this worry will be for nothing; we've agreed a boy's name (which is fairly unisex funnily enough, we just don't fancy using it for a girl - strange, I know!)
I have my suspicions that I'm baking a girl though!

Any advice or previous experience of this situation would be gratefully received. Thanks!

We disagreed initially. We both made a long list of any name which would be acceptable to us and then looked for any that were common to the two lists. We had eight. Then we chose from those. It worked pretty well. still a little bitter she’s not called Serena

My DH is very fussy with names and we found it very difficult to agree for dc2 and dc3. In the end I presented him with a very long shortlist of names that I would have been happy with and he picked his favourite from the list.

Karine you had eight names to choose from that you both agreed on???? You did not have a problem agreeing on a name! 😂

Thanks ladies.
Our lists do look very different. And I must admit, I only have two names on my list!
I've seen his list but I'm not loving any of his names ideas. It's been such a tough one. It was so easy last time round. We both agreed on a list of five names relatively easily.
I think it's been difficult this time round because we are both so set on two different names!
Stubborn pains in the arse, the pair of us!

Sorry, name changed to make my username easier to read. Logged out and in again so I don't use the old one!

A friend of mine had this problem. They came to an unusual compromise. If it was a girl, he picked the name. If a boy, she did. It was a girl & she got used to the name.

Hang on to your lists and try to add ones you both like.
Consider how they'll go with your surname, and any short forms, nicknames and lengthened versions, in case you dislike them. Are the initials likely to be embarrassing etc.
You can pick a name when she or he arrives.

I made it clear that if we had any significant disagreement that I had last word as I was the one carrying the babies. We agreed on everything though.
