‘India’ Alternatives

All hypothetical, as currently TTC, but interested in opinions.

OH likes India for a girl, but as it’s the name he put forward for his first daughter with ex-wife, it’s not high on my list. I don’t object to it, but it’s much more to her taste than to mine.

I like Nancy and Saffron, he’s not into either.

Any suggestions. I’d prefer less common names: no Olivias, Megans, Evies etc

Marla is nice. I don't think it's particularly common these days. I also like Mara.

Try a classic Greek name - Diana, Olympia, Athena, Electra... google and you will find long lists of beautiful names that are no longer used often in the English speaking world.

There is a female British actress called Indira Varma. That's where I thought of it from.

We have a Cleo, which is a vintage name but which I think still sounds modern and fresh and it’s currently not that common. It has a lovely meaning too (glory).

Oops sorry, posted on the wrong thread, meant to post on one seeking vintage girl names! But incidentally my husband also loved India so.......Smile
